Fantasy author George R.R. Martin has hints at a secret new project he is working on with “Game of Thrones” actress Maisie Williams, which has interested fans of the famous TV show.
Martin recently wrote on his blog that he met Williams in London over pizza and pasta, but he omitted the specifics. His writing only said, “It could be so much fun,” without explaining how they might work together.
Williams, who played Arya Stark on the eight-season HBO show, hasn’t spoken publicly about the meeting. Fans and reviewers alike loved how her character changed from the daughter of a nobleman to a skilled killer.
The possible project comes up as things are still happening in HBO’s Game of Thrones. Casey Bloys, who runs HBO’s programming, said the bond with Martin was complicated but important. Bloys said, “He’s very important to me and us.” She compared...

George R.R. Martin is teasing a project with Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams.
The author of A Song of Ice and Fire, the fantasy novel that inspired the HBO drama series created by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, hinted he was working with Williams on something.
“We also got together with Maisie Williams for pizza and pasta, and talked about — well, no, better not get into that, do not want to jinx it,” Martin wrote in his blog as he recounted his travels in London. “But it could be so much fun.”
Martin didn’t specify what the project with Williams was about or whether it involved a Game of Thrones sequel. Williams played Arya Stark throughout the show’s eight-season run on HBO.
HBO head Casey Bloys commented earlier in the day on how it to work with Martin on the multiple projects set in the Game of Thrones universe.

It's always nice to hear about Game of Thrones veterans continuing their acting work in new projects, and today we've got a fun one. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Dexter Sol Ansell, who plays the irascible squire Egg in HBO's upcoming A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms series, has joined the cast of a new roadtrip movie called 500 Miles. The film's all about two brothers who go in search of their estranged grandfather; Ansell will play one of them, named Charlie. Also in the cast is none other than Maisie Williams, whose performance as Arya Stark made her a fan-favorite on Thrones.
What would it be like if Egg and Arya, two characters notorious for speaking their minds, crossed paths? Well, we won't get to find that out in 500 Miles, but it's still fun to think about now that we have a reason to think about it. Williams plays Kait in the film,...

This past summer, Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin traveled to the United Kingdom to attend the World Science Fiction Convention. He also took a three-day trip to visit the set of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a new Game of Thrones prequel show based on his Dunk & Egg novellas. He's now written about his experience on his Not a Blog, and has nothing but positive things to say!
Let's start with some brief background on Dunk & Egg: the two title characters are a very tall knight and his diminutive squire respectively, to be played on TV by Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell. They meet near Ashford in the Reach, where Dunk is entering a tourney. That adventure is recounted in 1998's The Hedge Knight, the first of the three Dunk & Egg novellas Martin has written so far and the basis for this upcoming season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,...

The adaptation of George R.R. Martin's Dunk and Egg novellas was first announced back in 2021, where the adventures of the Hedge Knight are set in the same world as A Song of Ice and Fire.
Starring Peter Claffey as Dunk aka Ser Duncan the Tall, while working alongside Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg aka the future King Aegon V Targaryen, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms takes place 100 years before the events of Game of Thrones, an age where the Targaryens still hold the Iron Throne.

Last month, HBO finished airing the second season of its Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon. We know HBO has quite a few such spinoff series in the works, but the only other one we know is actually going to air is A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, based on the Dunk and Egg novellas by George R.R. Martin.
The Dunk & Egg novellas follow two main characters: a stalwart knight named Ser Duncan the Tall and his diminutive squire Egg. Filming on the first season of the show wrapped up just the other week, with star Dexter Sol Ansell — who plays Egg — celebrating with a little video goodbye to Belfast, where much of the series is shot:
Dexter Sol Ansell, who will star as Prince Aegon Targaryen (Egg) in HBO’s ‘A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms,’ bids farewell to Belfast following the completion of filming Season 1.

The second season of House of the Dragon, the first Game of Thrones prequel series to air on HBO, wrapped up last month. It'll be 2026 before we see more of that show. However, HBO isn't going to let us go the whole of 2026 without another visit to Westeros. A new prequel series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, will air its first season sometime in 2025.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on George R.R. Martin's Dunk and Egg novellas, about a very strong (if somewhat thick) knight named Dunk and his clever, much smaller squire Egg. The novellas are set decades after the events of House of the Dragon and decades before the events of Game of Thrones. There are no dragons, and at least at the start of the series, there's no war. In the three novellas yet published, Dunk and Egg simply wander the Seven Kingdoms going on adventures.

Ever thought the camera was a secret cast member? George R.R. Martin certainly does! The connection between Succession and House of the Dragon Season 2 is as deep as a dragon’s lair. Both shows play a game of power with their cameras, making them as integral to the plot as any character. Martin’s own epic saga embraces the intense, almost voyeuristic gaze of the lens, creating a parallel between the high-stakes boardrooms of Succession and the fiery thrones of House of the Dragon.

It’s as if the camera itself is scheming, plotting, and maybe even dragons’ best friend. This unexpected kinship’s a testament to the storytelling prowess of both series, proving that even the lens’ got a role to play.

HBO is getting back to basics with a new Game of Thrones spinoff called A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, based on author George R.R. Martin's Dunk and Egg novellas. Unlike House of the Dragon, which is a grand, sweeping epic in the style of Game of Thrones, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is much more intimate, giving us a worm's eye view of the Seven Kingdoms. It follows a newly minted knight named Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey), who in the first season will enter a tournament at Ashford Meadow in the Reach. That's where he'll meet the boy who will become his squire, known as Egg on account of his bald head (Dexter Sol Ansell).

George R.R. Martin has a very different opinion about another Game of Thrones spin-off after his criticism of House of the Dragon. Martin appears to be extremely happy about the way A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is progressing at HBO. He visited the sets of the spin-off series and commented that his readers would definitely love Dunk and Egg from the series.

With the success of Game of Thrones and now its spinoff House of the Dragon, it’s no surprise that HBO is looking to continue expanding upon this world that George R. R. Martin created. With a vast history of rich characters, there is plenty still left to be explored in Westeros – it’s just a matter of finding the right stories to tell.
Some series will never see the light of day, while others are in active development, slowly but surely working their way to our screens. From Snow to Sea Snake, here are all of the Game of Thrones spinoffs that have been conceptualized in the wake of the series’ ending, and their status.

With the cameras rolling for close to a couple of months now, the Game Of Thrones prequel A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms is most definitely underway ahead of its arrival on our screens next year. And following on from June's casting flurry, another bunch of additions have been announced, with Edward Ashley, Henry Ashton, Daniel Monks, Shaun Thomas, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor and Danny Webb all reporting for duty down Westeros way.
Those new arrivals join stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell as his squire, Egg.
As you'll no doubt know by this point, A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms is set roughly 100 years before the events of the parent show (and 100 years after the dragon-clashing conflicts of House Of The Dragon), and follows the two unlikely heroes as they wander the land. The casting news includes an actor playing Daeron Targaryen. That’s a familiar name — though not a familiar face — to House of the Dragon fans. But as is often the case in George R.R. Martin’s fantasy world, there is more than one Daeron Targaryen, and this is not the same Daeron as the one in House of the Dragon.
The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Daeron will be played by Henry Ashton (A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder). This Daeron, also called Daeron the Drunken, is the eldest son of King Maekar I Targaryen and is known for having prophetic dreams.
In Dragon, Daeron is King Viserys and Alicent Hightower’s fourth child, who has been kept offscreen in the series,...

Westeros is getting some new faces.
The “Game of Thrones” spinoff “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” has added seven new cast members.
The HBO series has cast Edward Ashley (“Masters of the Air”) as Ser Steffon Fossoway, Henry Ashton (“A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” and “My Lady Jane”) as Daeron Targaryen, Youssef Kerkour (“House of Gucci”) as Steely Pate, Daniel Monks (Netflix’s upcoming film “Kaos”) as Ser Manfred Dondarrion, Shaun Thomas (“How to Have Sex”) as Raymun Fossoway, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor (“Avengers: Infinity War”) as Plummer and Danny Webb (HBO’s “The Regime” and “The Dig”) as Ser Arlan of Pennytree. For fans who recently finished Season 2 of “House of the Dragon,” the Daeron in “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” is different than the one in the prequel series — just like how there are multiple Aegons in Westeros history.

HBO’s fantasy show, Game of Thrones, has undoubtedly left its footprint on the industry and we are not expecting it to leave anytime soon. The show, which ended in 2019 still holds much influence on its fans with the stories of Westeros, dragons, Iron Throne, and a lot of Houses. As its prequel series, House of the Dragon has already aired the first season, instantly getting renewed for another season which is airing currently, the original show may never stop working on releasing the stories of the different eras regarding Westeros’ history. Thanks to the rich detailing of the story, several other projects are under-development or in talks to further explore stories from George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. Let’s talk about the spinoffs that will take the viewers to a deeper history of Westeros and beyond.

Brienne of Tarth's Ancestor is the Lead of Game of Thrones Spin-Off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms - Main Image
Game of Thrones may have ended its main series run back in 2019, but HBO is still hard at work making multiple spin-offs based in the world of Westeros. Besides House of the Dragon, an adaptation based on the novellas A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is also in the works—and what’s interesting is, the plot will focus on the ancestor of a major Thrones player.
Exploring Brienne of Tarth's Lineage
Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) is supposed to be a play on the classic knight-in-shining-armor archetype crossed with the damsel-in-distress trope. While technically Westerosi royalty, Brienne is neither conventionally damsel-like nor in distress. Instead, she is a noble knight, and a capable fighter who can even go toe-to-toe with Sandor Clegane a.k.a. The Hound.

The “House of the Dragon” Season 2 premiere brought Max its most-watched day in history, Warner Bros. Discovery said on Tuesday. This, despite the Season 2 premiere being down 22 percent from the series premiere in 2022. How does that work?
Simple, actually: the “House of the Dragon” Season 1 premiere was on HBO Max. This one was on Max. Wbd must know how much we all appreciate a good technicality.
The “House of the Dragon” series premiere on August 21, 2022 on HBO Max landed 10 million cross-platform viewers. Sunday’s Season 2 premiere received 7.8 million viewers across Max and linear HBO. Each episode from the first season ultimately reached about 29 million viewers, so we’ve got a long way to go here.
HBO Max and Discovery+ combined a little over a year ago to form Max. Discovery+ is still available as a standalone option — albeit not a very popular one.

Although it looks like the Jon Snow sequel series starring Kit Harington is no longer moving forward, there are still a number of Game of Thrones spin-off shows in development, including A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight.
Production is now underway in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and HBO/Max has released a first official look at Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall, aka "Dunk." It seems we're going to have to wait a little longer for a glimpse of Dexter Sol Ansell as his young squire, the secret Targaryen prince Aegon, aka "Egg."
Several new cast members have also been announced, including Finn Bennett (True Detective: Night Country) as Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel (The Crown) as Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford (Tiny Beautiful Things) as Tanselle, Daniel Ings (The Gentlemen) as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell (Fargo) as Maekar Targaryen.

The newly announced cast includes Finn Bennett as Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel as Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell as Maekar Targaryen.

HBO‘s sophomore season of House of the Dragon doesn’t premiere until Sunday, but the network is ready to announce Season 3 today! This announcement is an amoosbouche for the carnage, incest, and backstabbing to come when Season 2 launches this weekend. Word about HBO greenlighting House of the Dragon Season 3 is hardly a surprise, considering the show’s overwhelming success. In addition to attracting new fans to the epic familial drama series, many who wrote off Game of Thrones after an underwhelming final season have caved to the Fomo and embraced the star-studded spinoff.
House of the Dragon is based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and focuses on the House Targaryen.
After a significant death in House of the Dragon Season 1, Rhaenyra and Alicent are ready to go to war, trading “blood for blood” and burning oppressors where they stand.

Greatness in writing comes in different forms, and two shining examples of this virtue are prolific authors Stephen King and George R.R. Martin. While King is popularly known as the ‘King of Horror’ for his masterful depiction of narratives in the genre like The Shining, Martin is the bonafide genius of fantasy with Game Of Thrones.
