Jennifer Garner makes a surprise comeback as Elektra and jokes about her divorce with Ben Affleck in Deadpool and Wolverine
Marvel’s playful nod to the iconic sad Wolverine meme, with Hugh Jackman’s character in full gear, is a clever way to celebrate the film’s success. The nominations for the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards that were revealed on Wednesday morning confirm that there is tremendous support from the TV Academy’s 22,000 members for the three shows that have long been presumed to be the frontrunners in their respective categories: FX’s drama series Shogun (which landed a field-leading 25 noms), FX’s comedy series The Bear (the runner-up with 23 noms, a new record for a comedy, or at least a show that could get away with being classified as one) and Netflix’s limited series Baby Reindeer (11 noms).
But — and this is a big but — the noms also suggest that pundits, including me, may have been overestimating the strength of that trio of shows and underestimating the strength of some of their competitors.
Among dramas, Netflix’s The Crown, for its sixth, final and worst-reviewed season (it’s at just 55 percent on Rotten Tomatoes), was the runner-up with a formidable 18 noms,...

Will “The Bear” explode in nominations for Season 2? (Probably.) Will “The Morning Show” finally get its first drama series nomination? (Yes.) Gold Derby editors and Experts Christopher Rosen and Joyce Eng are here with their final Emmy nominations predictions.
After winning 10 Emmys, including Best Comedy Series, for its maiden season, “The Bear” will likely expand in nominations for its even more acclaimed sophomore installment. But is it strong enough to pull in a coattail nominee like Molly Gordon in supporting actress? Or will “Hacks” score a coattail with Meg Stalter after its excellent third season? And could both Meryl Streep and Janelle James be snubbed?
See Experts slugfest: ‘The Bear’ Season 3 is here — how will Emmy voters respond (for Season 2)?
“Shōgun’s” shift from limited has shored up spots in lots of drama categories, but both supporting races still feel volatile. While eight of “The Morning Show’s” 11 nominations have been for acting,...

Fans are still discussing what Carmy said to Claire in one of The Bear's most emotional moments.
Streaming on Hulu, FX's award-winning kitchen-based dramedy is not shy about charging its scenes with a particular emotion, whether that be anger, anxiety, or sheer unbridled joy.
The vastness of this emotional spectrum has been no better represented in the series than in the relationship between Jeremy Allen White's Carmy and Molly Gordon's Claire. Across Season 2 (and into Season 3), the pair experience everything from the joy and excitement of new love to the devastation of feelings of hurt and love lost.

A playful take on the dishy celebrity cameo, John Cena’s part in “The Bear” is an acquired taste.
The legendary WWE champion — whose acting credits now include a top-line superhero in the DC Extended Universe — appears as Carmy’s beefy cousin Sammy Fak in Season 3, Episode 5, “Children.” The 6’ 1” supporting player arrives in the elite fine-dining epic created by Christopher Storer seemingly out of nowhere, but it’s really just the latest course in a string of smart casting choices that make up Cena’s quietly brilliant career.
“Anybody seen a ghost?” asks Sammy, his hulking frame filling the restaurant side-door.
It’s a jarring scene that has drawn cheers as well as criticism online. Some audiences are delighted to see Cena in their favorite TV show. By box office and general reputation, he’s a crowd favorite if there ever was one, even among non-wrestling fans. Others, however, have...

The Bear Season 3 is off to a roaring start. The premiere episode drew 5.4 million views globally on Hulu, Hulu on Disney+ and Disney+ in certain territories internationally, in its first four days of streaming, according to Disney. A view is defined as total stream time divided by runtime.
The debut episode, which aired last week, was the No. 3 most-watched season premiere ever, Disney says, as well as the No. 1 most watched FX season premiere ever and the No. 1 most-watched scripted series premiere ever.
Additionally, Season 3 continues to see an increase of 24% more views after four days compared to Season 2, according to Disney. Season 3 saw a significant boost from Hulu on Disney+ viewing and is the most viewed Hulu on Disney+ premiere since launch.
Season 3 will follow Carmy, Richie and Sydney as they work to elevate the titular restaurant, which transformed from a gritty sandwich shop to a finer dining destination.

The Bear is eating for Hulu.
The Disney-owned streamer says the third season premiere of the Emmy winner racked up 5.4 million views worldwide over its first four days of release (it premiered June 27). The show streams on Disney+ outside the United States and hasn’t premiered in every territory yet.
That 5.4 million figure — the equivalent of that many complete showings of the 36-minute season premiere — represents a 24 percent jump over the season two opener in June 2023 (which would put the latter around 4.35 million views) and the show’s biggest episode over a four-day span to date. It also snagged the largest view tally ever on Hulu for an FX season premiere, or a scripted season debut from any source. The Bear now ranks third among all original season premieres on Hulu, according to the streamer’s internal figures.

The Season 3 premiere of “The Bear” reached 5.4 million views in its first four days of streaming, according to Disney.
That marks not only the best performance ever for an FX premiere on Hulu, but the most-watched season premiere for any scripted series on Hulu. With unscripted series included, “The Bear” Season 3 is Hulu’s third-biggest season premiere of all time. (Note: a view is calculated by dividing the total time a title was watched by its runtime.)
Additionally, Disney says this puts Season 3 of “The Bear” at 24% more views than the Season 2 premiere achieved in the same amount of time. That’s a second consecutive season of growth for “The Bear,” which reached surprise word-of-mouth success in Season 1 and grew in viewership by 70% with Season 2.

Note: This story contains spoilers from “The Bear” Season 3.
“The Bear” may have calmed down a bit in Season 3, but that doesn’t mean the FX dramedy lacked stressful moments in its latest installment.
Set in the aftermath of Carmy’s (Jeremy Allen White) meltdown during opening night of The Bear, Season 3 followed the restaurant’s first couple months of service. The same toxic trends that took root in Season 2’s finale continued in Season 3: Carmy kept pouring every inch of himself into his restaurant following his breakup with Claire (Molly Gordon), the pursuit of a Michelin star led to him working his staff ragged and — worst of all — he continued to push Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) to the side.
The season also looked to the past, as the premiere episode showcased the inner workings of Carmy’s traumatized psyche, with flashback montages that helped explain all he had been...

I hope you’ve worked up an appetite this week, because new episodes of FX’s culinary-themed comedy “The Bear” have arrived at long last.
The highly anticipated third season of the Emmy-winning show, which is now streaming on Hulu, takes a beat with a dramatic premiere anchored by flashbacks before the second episode picks up in the aftermath of the emotionally tumultuous Season 2 finale, which saw the soft opening of the restaurant but the likely end of Carmy’s (Emmy winner Jeremy Allen White) relationship with Claire (Molly Gordon). Despite the super-charged atmosphere of the early episodes, this might just be the series’ funniest season yet. So take that, everyone who ever complained the show wasn’t actually a comedy!

This post contains spoilers for "The Bear" season 3.
Watching all 10 episodes of the third season of "The Bear" in one sitting is, I imagine, a bit like what working at its famed Chicago restaurant might feel like. Like the behind-the-scenes world of The Bear, the viewing experience is overstimulating, rewarding, frustrating, exhausting, delicious, and chaotic. It also has the impressive effect of leaving audiences hungry for more -- even when the "food" we did get this time around was more like an experimental blood orange reduction than a hearty, satisfying beef sandwich.
"The Bear" skyrocketed to fame when it premiered on FX and Hulu in 2022, leading to a swift renewal and a relatively quick (for a post-Covid prestige cable show) one-year turn-around on season 2. The first two outings were wildly acclaimed, earning the show an impressive 10 primetime Emmy wins and 13 nominations. Stars Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri have seemingly...

FX on Hulu’s The Bear will dish up an all-new season to kick off summer. Season 2 already elevated the show with its numerous guest stars as well as the transition of the family sandwich shop into a fine dining establishment. Season 1 swept the first of two Emmys ceremonies this year, with the second hoping to follow in those footsteps.
After Season 1 raked in its 10 Emmys at the 75th ceremony, the cast and crew had various responses to the comedy genre label. Since the show’s launch, stars Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach have all been cast in other high profile projects like Deliver Me From Nowhere for White, The Fantastic Four for Moss-Bachrach and Luca Guadagnino’s next film, The Hunt, for Edebiri.
Fans of the intense kitchen-set series may anticipate new faces and poignant needle drops like Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” for Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Richie.

Here at FandomWire, we review the Hulu and FX series The Bear Season 3. The article does not contain spoilers.
I said it once, but it uh bears repeating: FX’s The Bear remains an American classic despite a season that will disappoint many. Creator Christopher Storer has developed a show like no other on television, producing anxiety-inducing stress and tension that can pivot on a dime and lead directly to jaw-dropping breaking points.
And yes, the hardships and challenges faced by this group of damaged souls took a turn in a season that lacked focus. While I can practically guarantee many will be left disappointed after a sophomore effort that will go down as one of the best in television history, Storer’s latest chapter with Carmy and friends is frenetically brilliant.

[This story contains spoilers from episode two of season three of The Bear, “Next.”]
For many The Bear viewers, it’s still hard to shake what Carmy said to Richie while he was stuck in the restaurant’s walk-in refrigerator at the end of season two. And the same goes for the FX hit comedy’s sparring “cousins” when season three begins.
Following a meditative exploration into Carmy’s backstory with the premiere, The Bear truly picks up from where the series left off with the second episode of season three — of which all 10 episodes are now streaming on Hulu. Jeremy Allen White’s Carmy has, as the actor had promised, escaped the walk-in fridge. And in “Next,” Carmy walks back into his kitchen with a list of nonnegotiables for his partners — sister Sugar (Abby Elliott) and chef Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) — and his team of chefs — including Marcus (Lionel Boyce) and Tina (Liza Colón-Zayas). Warning: contains plot spoilers about Season Three of The Bear
During this year’s strike-delayed TV award season, the second season of The Bear was practically unstoppable. From the Critics’ Choice Awards to the Golden Globes to the Emmys — at the last of these, it won three of the four major acting awards — The Bear was an absolute juggernaut. But questions about whether it properly belonged among Comedy shows were so persistent that the cast has had to weigh in.
Back in January, after its Emmy sweep, star Jeremy Allen White (who plays Carmy) emphatically stated that it is a comedy; meanwhile, Ebon Moss-Bachrach (who plays Richie) opined, “These ideas about comedy and drama are a little bit outdated.” The question came up again this week, before the brand-new third season dropped last night, with Moss-Bachrach more or less repeating himself: “I just think we’re in a more nuanced place,...

“Let it rip.” Ever since Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) read these words in a note from his late brother Mikey (Jon Bernthal), they’ve become the de facto motto for a series that does indeed love going for broke. The debut season was an unrelenting introduction to the grueling life of restaurateurs, especially those still reeling from the loss of a family member who also happened to leave them in debt deeper than Chicago’s deepest-dish pizza. An ambitious Season 2 kept the heat up, as Carmy & Co. remodeled the greasy spoon sandwich shop into a Michelin-worthy fine-dining establishment, but it spread the fire more evenly across its core ensemble and top-shelf guest stars.
In short, it ripped, and it did so in a way Season 3 can’t and doesn’t across 10 new episodes. But the popular slogan still applies. Back in the first season’s finale, when Carmy finally...

How do you follow up a dish that was — to borrow a food writing cliché — cooked to perfection? Like The Godfather Part II, the remarkable second season of The Bear, the Chicago-set comedy-drama (heavy emphasis on the ‘drama’), was the rare sequel that surpassed the original, a masterpiece in ten episodes. Perhaps inviting further comparisons to The Godfather, this new run has been titled “The Bear: Part III”, suggesting a family saga of Corleone-ian proportions.
This time around, Jeremy Allen White’s Chef Carmy is keen to “constantly evolve through passion and creativity” — and so, evidently, is The Bear’s showrunner Christopher Storer. The first episode of this new run is essentially a 37-minute non-narrative montage, an impressionistic edit of everything that led Carmy to this point. It feels like both an arty ‘Previously, on…’ recap for returning...

Spoiler Alert: The following piece evaluates Season 3 of “The Bear.” While major plot developments — including guest stars — have been withheld to preserve the viewing experience, the network has requested spoiler warnings on all reviews.
The second, much-improved season of “The Bear” was defined by a sense of momentum. Its 10 episodes were transitional in a literal sense, taking the FX half-hour from the closure of a family-owned Italian beef shop in Chicago’s River North to the opening of a fine dining concept in the same space. Staff members developed dishes, supervised build-out and acquired skills with a singular purpose in mind, culminating in a hectic friends-and-family service that saw chef Carmy Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) freak out in a freezer.
Season 3 — the first to air after the series swept the comedy categories at this year’s Emmys, cementing its growth from breakout hit to incumbent juggernaut — lacks a similar focus.

Jeremy Allen White Teases ‘The Bear’ Season 3: Carmy “Never Seems To Be Able To Apologize Very Well”
Jeremy Allen White is teasing The Bear Season 3 and revealing that his character Carmy will continue making similar mistakes in the new season.
“He never seems to be able to apologize very well,” White told Deadline during the show’s premiere at El Capitan Theatre. “You see Carmy make some similar mistakes this year. When he leaves that walk-in he feels like he let everybody down. He’s filled with a lot of guilty, a lot of shame.”
To get an idea of how Carmy will be in Season 3, White said his character will be similar “to the Carmy you saw after the episode ‘Review’ in the first season where I think he embarrassed himself with how he treated everybody.”
White continued, “Instead of facing it and trying to treat it and apologize, I think he buries himself back in his work and he pushes himself and everybody else around him thinking that,...

“The Bear is coming.”
These four words were among the very last featured in the first season of FX’s The Bear, the Emmy-winning “comedy” about a highly accomplished chef who returns home to Chicago to take over his family’s sandwich shop after the death of his brother. And while season two fulfilled the promise of those four words, turning the shop into a full-on restaurant, they remain as relevant as ever now as the third season of the critically acclaimed (and extremely stressful) series looms large over the rest of this summer.
All 10 episodes of The Bear binge drop at 9 p.m. Et on June 26, as Hulu edged up the release by three hours. It’s easy enough to just pop back into the show and eat all servings in one shot, right? Wrong.
Technically, you could hit play and let it go until 3 or 4 in the morning.

FX’s critically acclaimed series “The Bear” is gearing up for its third season, set to premiere on Hulu on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 9 Pm Et. The show, which has already garnered 10 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series, continues to captivate audiences with its intense kitchen drama and complex character relationships.
As anticipation builds for the new season, the show’s stars Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri have definitively addressed the longstanding fan speculation about a potential romance between their characters, Carmy and Sydney. At a recent press conference, both actors firmly denied any romantic implications between the two, with Edebiri offering a succinct “No” and White elaborating, “There was no talk in the rooms about any romantic implications [between those characters].”
This stance aligns with series creator Christopher Storer’s vision for the show. In a January 2023 interview with Variety, Storer expressed his desire to create a series focused on friendship and partnership,...

The second season of FX’s The Bear raised the bar within the show’s plot as well as for those in front of and behind the cameras, with a long list of cameos throughout the show and Ramy Youssef as guest director on one of the early episodes.
Season 3 will bring some sizzle to this summer in ten episodes dropping in a binge at the end of June. Last season traced the challenges — fire suppression test and more — that Carmy Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) and kitchen crew faced to transform The Beef into The Bear.
Here’s what to remember from Season 2 of The Bear for those who need a recap before Season 3:
Natalie (Abbie Elliott) Became Part-Time Project Manager aka COO
To transition from The Beef to The Bear, the sandwich shop needed to refile for permits to do business. Mikey never filed for The Beef. Richie...

Despite the relative lack of romance on "The Bear," the show still has a major section of Carmy/Sydney shippers in the fanbase. It's hard to blame them; there's clearly some sort of spark between the two, and their relationship feels like the central source of tension behind the series. The big fan debate is all about whether this tension is romantic in nature, or if it's more of a platonic work soulmate sort of situation.
At a recent press conference for the upcoming season 3, /Film's Ben Pearson listened in as Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri were asked about a potential love story between their two characters. Were there any romantic implications intended in Carm and Sid's relationship? Ayo Edebiri's answer was an immediate, "No." Allen White's answer was "No. No, there was no talk in the rooms about any romantic implications [between those characters]."
Both actors seemed annoyed by the question,...
