Peacock has announced a premiere date for its new upcoming suspense thriller series starring Amanda Seyfried, and it’s sooner than you think. Seyfried will lead the adaptation of author Liz Moore’s best-selling novel Long Bright River.

The series premieres Monday, March 13, 2025 on Peacock. The show will feature 8 episodes and—praise the gods of television—they will all be released in one fell swoop. Lucky us.

In a nutshell, the novel tells a powerful story about two sisters and the destruction of addiction. Long Bright River builds on this and is centered around Philadelphia police officer Mickey Fitzpatrick (Seyfried), who patrols an area hit particularly hard by the tragic opioid crisis. The work of Edgar Allan Poe has been adapted for the big and small screen numerous times over the years, with several of the legendary writer's stories influencing Mike Flanagan's recent retelling of The Fall of the House of Usher.

The acclaimed Netflix miniseries put its own unique spin on The Masque of the Red Death, and we're now hearing that a feature adaptation is in the works. Deadline reports that A24 and Picturehouse are developing the project, with Charlie Polinger set to write and direct.

Michele Morrone will also star in the upcoming movie, which is being directed by Paul Feig. The film is based on the bestselling book by Freida McFadden.

The Housemaid, published in 2022, is a No. 1 New York Times bestseller that’s sold over 1 million copies and spawned follow-up books as well. The movie will hit theaters on December 25, 2025.

A couple of months ago, it was announced that Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried were in final negotiations to star in the psychological thriller The Housemaid for Lionsgate and director Paul Feig, whose credits include Bridesmaids, Ghostbusters, and A Simple Favor. At the end of last month, Lionsgate let it be known that they’ll be releasing the film on Christmas Day 2025.
