Jack Nicholson, 87, hasn't officially retired from acting, but he also doesn't do it anymore. In 2013, Nicholson spoke with Vanity Fair about rumors of his retirement, and he merely wanted to say that he had retired from incessant flirting, not acting. He did admit, however, that he wasn't passionately driven to put himself out in the world anymore. Nicholson's good friend Lou Adler (the famed record producer) told Marc Maron in 2023 (via The Wrap) that Nicholson had been contacted several times about appearing in multiple film projects since 2010, but that Nicholson turned them all down. It seems that the actor would rather sit under a tree and read a book. Which is, of course, his right. With 80 film credits and multiple Academy Awards, not to mention worldwide fame, Nicholson has earned it. So, although he's never announced his retirement, Nicholson is more or less retired.
And if Nicholson isn't going to...

Marvel Studios has been enjoying one heck of a comeback year. Starting strong with its first ever binge-drop Echo at the beginning of the year, it returned to its glory days with box office record-breaker Deadpool and Wolverine. It also brought that success back to the small screen as Agatha All Along wound the clock back to the days of WandaVision, delivering a show with the same high quality of those early Disney Plus shows. The studio will also treat us this festive season once again as the third and final season of What If...? is releasing over the holidays.

Agatha All Along came to a conclusion this week, but the door was left open for more!
Kathryn Hahn and Joe Locke‘s characters seemed to set up a future for both and the showrunner for the latest MCU series is speaking out about the possibility.

“I’m so happy with sending them off. From the very beginning, I think even before the writer’s room, that was the end game, is that she would be a ghost and she would be his spirit guide. We loved that as an arc for the show, and it felt really correct given the comics, which also I’m so delighted that people didn’t zero in on that in the comics,” Jac Schaeffer told Deadline. “Because in the comics, she spends a lot of her time as a ghost. Politics is probably the last thing you’d like to spend your weekend thinking about as the country heads into Election Day, but Netflix would very much like you to at least try for “The Diplomat,” the streaming service’s hit series following the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom.

Agtaha All Along Finale Spoiler Stills Released As Showrunner Reveals Marvel's Scarlet Witch Mandate
Heading into Agatha All Along, we'd hoped that the series might clear up the Scarlet Witch's MCU status. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness strongly hinted that the Avenger died, though a red flash before Mount Wundagore collapsed pointed to her escaping that fate.
The WandaVision follow-up has established that Wanda Maximoff is "gone" but stopped short of revealing whether she's dead or alive.
Talking to Deadline, showrunner Jac Schaeffer said, "It’s my opinion - and these stories will move ahead, and who knows what it will be - it’s my opinion that Agatha does not know. And yeah, it’s my opinion that Rio does. I think the word 'gone' is important. I was instructed to use the word 'gone.'"

The spiritual successor to MCU’s first foray into TV has proved to be a major hit among both fans and critics. While WandaVision was let down by an underwhelming finale despite its promising start, Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha All Along was successful in moving at a steady pace throughout its nine episodes.

What a thrill-ride Agatha All Along has been! Marvel Television ensured that fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be entertained this spooky season, offering up pure delight with the bewitching series that has turned out to be a remarkable success for the studio.
Not only has the WandaVision spinoff show continued the ongoing story of the MCU, it has appealed to a wide variety of audiences, bringing in TV fans who loved the original series and general Halloween fans, who were thrilled to see some good old-fashioned witchy content. Releasing it during the spooky season has proven to be genius, as the mysterious show has racked up impressive viewing figures - which is even better for Marvel Studios considering it has been the cheapest Disney Plus series produced by them yet.

It's probably fair to say that Agatha All Along wasn't one of the more highly-anticipated MCU shows to be announced for the Disney+ streaming service.
The prospect of a WandaVision spin-off focusing on scene-stealing witch Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) may have seemed like a more appealing idea a few years ago, but even then, a lot of fans wondered what the point of a series revolving around this character was when there are better-known and more popular Marvel Comics heroes and villains that have yet to be given the spotlight.
Even so, the first two episodes proved to be surprisingly popular, and based on critical (the show's Rotten Tomatoes score has now gone from 67% to 83%) and audience responses, many would seem to agree that the series only increased in quality as it went on.

Spoiler Warning: This story includes major plot details for the Marvel Studios limited series “Agatha All Along,” currently streaming on Disney+.
When Jac Schaeffer signs onto Zoom roughly 18 hours after the two-episode finale of her series “Agatha All Along” debuted on Disney+, she looks at once relieved and slightly queasy.
“From when it dropped to about an hour ago, I’ve been feeling pretty shaky,” the showrunner says with a laugh. “We dropped a lot of content — a lot of moments.”
Schaeffer isn’t exaggerating. The episodes, titled “Follow Me My Friend / To Glory at the End” and “Maiden Mother Crone,” are chockablock with surprise twists and revelations that upend the story of Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn), Billy Maximoff (Joe Locke) and the coven of women who venture with them onto the fabled Witches’ Road. For one thing, it turns out the Witches’ Road never really existed — until Billy unknowingly summoned it into being.

Spoiler Alert! This post contains spoilers for the final two episodes (and entirety) of Agatha All Along.
Marvel’s Agatha All Along has reached the end of the Witches’ Road, which turned out to be quite the alternate reality constructed by a very powerful young witch.
Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal, aka Lady Death still had a major role to play in the final two episodes as Agatha (Kathryn Hahn), Billy (Joe Locke) and Jen (Sasheer Zamata) made their way to the final trial, set in a morgue, before veering off the road completely. Agatha and Billy shared some heartfelt moments in the finale after viewers learned what really became of Nicholas Scratch (Abel Lysenko). A second big reveal moment also came along for Joe Locke’s Billy with the realization that he had created the Witches’ Road from chaos magic.

We’ve officially reached the end of the witches’ road — even though technically, it ended up being a circle — and everyone’s got their power back. Though admittedly, in some unexpected ways.
In the two-episode finale of the Marvel series “Agatha All Along,” now streaming on Disney+, we learn that the Witches’ Road isn’t actually real, and it never has been — at least, not until Billy Maximoff (Joe Locke) came along. With powers similar to his mother’s, he quite literally conjured the road under the streets of Westview.
He’s responsible for the trials and, by unintentional extension, the death of his coven. Well, most of his coven; Jen (Sasheer Zamata) managed to get out alive. But Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) sure didn’t.
Don’t worry, we aren’t technically losing her from the MCU. She’s a ghost now, determined to use her afterlife to help Billy find his brother Tommy.

If you have not watched the final two episodes of “Agatha All Along,” we suggest you stop reading this story and rectify that immediately. Spearheaded by creator and executive producer Jac Schaeffer, the nine-episode limited series introduced pivotal new characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, featured awards-worthy performances from Kathryn Hahn, Patti LuPone, and Sasheer Zamata, among others, and featured a tonal shift that shouldn’t have worked, but succeeded smashingly.

As you may recall, it's previously been reported that Agatha All Along completed its scheduled reshoots in only one day. With the WandaVision spin-off, Marvel Studios may have finally cracked TV, delivering a satisfying beginning, middle, and end, all with an appropriate budget thanks to practical sets and an effective use of VFX.
Today, scooper @MyTimeToShineH brings word about some of the changes Marvel Television made to Agatha All Along during those reshoots and production in general.
They start by confirming that the Scarlet Witch was never in the series, so that didn't change (Alex Perez has also acknowledged that he was way off base with the claim Wanda Maximoff would be found in a dormant state at the end of the Witches' Road).
Original plans called for Agatha Harkness to ask Death to "retire" her Rio Vidal form, prompting the powerful entity to respond, "But this is the me you fell in love with.

Agatha All Along wrapped up its first season on Disney+ and the ending paves the way for possibly more witchy adventures!
Caution: This article contains Spoilers for Agatha All Along Season 1
The series followed Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn), who regained her memories and was on a search for power. She was aided by Teen (Joe Locke) and gathering a coven of witches in Jennifer Kale (Sasheer Zamata), Alice (Ali Ahn), Lilia (Patti LuPone) and quirky neighbor Sharon (Debra Jo Rupp). “Agatha All Along” wasn’t perfect.
In his review of the series, IndieWire’s Ben Travers pointed out that the the first four episodes stretched the welcome of a slow burn, that the stakes weren’t high enough and the energy lacking in what should have been a full-bodied villain adventure.
But unlike so many franchise series on Disney+ and from Marvel in particular, things got better in this second series from Jac Schaeffer. Things got good. By midseason — just a few weeks in, thanks to a two-episode premiere — viewers learned the identity of the mysterious Teen (Joe Locke), which wasn’t terribly shocking but also ostensibly wasn’t meant to be. For a show that began by focusing largely on a literal road, the journey is a critical piece of “Agatha All Along.” Yeah, that kid is probably who you think — but how did he come to be who...

Aubrey Plaza's MCU debut as Rio Vidal in Agatha All Along was celebrated by fans. However, the revelation that she's Death has been hailed as one of Marvel Studios' best casting decisions ever.
Now, Emmy-nominated Makeup Artist Erin LeBre has revealed just how much of the Death design we saw in the two-episode finale was practical. As you can see below, little in the way of VFX was needed to bring this character to life and we're hoping she keeps this look during any future appearances.
Death may be a one-and-done for the MCU, though we'd be shocked if she doesn't show her face in other supernatural projects heading our way when the Multiverse Saga concludes.
For many, the hope is that she might be allied with Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, becoming an ally to him similar to how Thanos served her in the comic books.

While elections are usually a big deal, this year’s are even more so given the current political climate across the world and within the country. This post contains spoilers for Marvel's "Agatha All Along."
It was expected that "Agatha All Along" would stay true to its title by including a "WandaVision"-esque reveal about her true intentions, but episodes 8 and 9 of the show accomplish this impressively by recontextualizing everything. The core impetus for our beloved characters in the show — the Witches' Road — is exposed as a scam spun by a desperate, power-hungry Agatha (Kathryn Hahn), whose lies have cost innumerable lives over centuries. This startling reveal doesn't necessarily alter our foundational understanding of Agatha, though: she is still a villainous character, only now furnished with enough context for us to comprehend her worldview and why she tends to be so trigger-happy. The series also ends with a major death, but the repercussions are far from traditional, and they set up a fresh phase for the near future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Alas, Agatha All Along has concluded its first season, and we must say, it has been quite the witchy, trippy ride. From the reveals to the trials on the Witches Road to Agatha's backstory, we really did get it all.
I knew going into Agatha All Along that a show centered on Agatha Harkness would not disappoint us, and I'm happy to say I was right. Watching WandaVision was so much fun, however, some of us got ahead with our theories and let it get the best of us. With Agatha All Along, it was different because they were giving us the reveals we were hoping for, and were not disappointing us in any capacity. Moreso, they weren't throwing things out there that we could misconstrue, and I really appreciated that.

Agatha All Along season 1 comes to a close with two episodes that answers several questions while asking a multitude more. As Agatha, Jenny, and Billy come to the end of The Road, they must face Death (Rio) whose history with Agatha runs deeper than anyone could have expected.

The long awaited return of Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) is over with the arrival of Agatha All Along, the witch’s solo series that branches off of Marvel’s WandaVision.
But Agatha can’t walk the Witches’ Road alone. Though she betrayed her own coven ages ago, she summons up a new “circle sewn with fate” to tackle the gauntlet, that will give any witch the object she most desires. The coven makes up a good chunk of the Agatha All Along cast, but several other familiar faces from Wanda’s Westview reprise their neighborly roles — like Norm (Asif Ali), Herb (David A Payton) and Phil Jones (David Lengel) and more.
Find those that make up Agatha’s coven as well as other familiar faces viewers may recognize below:

The story of the movies in the 2010s is basically the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Iron Man laid the foundation in 2008, but The Avengers turned the franchise into a proper phenomenon in 2012. From there, Disney rode the wave all the way to the bank. Things climaxed in 2019, with three Marvel movies — Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home — all making over a billion dollars.
That was around the time the streaming wars were really getting underway, so Disney and Marvel Studios set their sights on a new realm to conquer: television. Things got off to a solid start with WandaVision, a surprisingly esoteric show about Wanda Maximoff that took inspiration from, of all things, sitcoms through the ages. Back in 2021, people were enraptured by this show; the buzz was very real.
And then things seemed to taper off. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier came next,...

In last night's two-episode finale of Agatha All Along - you can read our in-depth recap here - we were treated to some huge revelations and surprises. Of course, among the biggest were those comic-accurate costumes.
Firstly, Billy Maximoff emerges from the Witches' Road with full control of his powers and suits up as Wiccan. Wearing a costume that's almost identical to his look on the page, Billy looked phenomenal in action, particularly with a crown - in place of a headband - that links him to his mother, the Scarlet Witch.
It didn't end with Billy, though. With Death unleashed, the true face of "Rio Vidal" is finally revealed and Marvel Studios has translated this character from the page to screen in a really exciting way.
There have been rumblings online we'll see her again, so the hope now is that she might serve as an ally to Robert Downey Jr....

The journey down the Witches' Road has finally come to an end in "Agatha All Along," with episodes 8 and 9 mapping the aftermath of Billy Kaplan/Maximoff (Joe Locke) fulfilling his most deep-seated wish during the final trial. While "Follow Me My Friend / To Glory at the End" delivers an inevitable confrontation between Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) and her ex-lover Rio/Death (Aubrey Plaza), the final episode, "Maiden Mother Crone" offers some integral context and backstory while delivering an unexpected twist. It's best to just come out and say it: Agatha is dead and is currently in spirit form, lingering around Billy to reveal that the very concept of the Witches' Road was a scam started by her centuries ago. The reason that the Road became a reality this time around is because Billy unwittingly manifested it, conjuring this otherworldly realm with the aid of personal,...

Stories focusing on villains are all the rage in Hollywood at the moment, but they come with their own challenges – as seen in Agatha All Along…
Warning! The following contains heavy spoilers for the entirety of Agatha All Along, including the finale. Mild spoilers also for Cruella, Maleficent and Joker.
Ah, villains. We just love to hate them, don’t we? Even when we root fiercely for the hero to survive, we also can’t wait to see the Xenomorph tear into assorted space-miners or Hannibal Lecter munch on his victims.
There has been a bit of an uptick in villain stories in Hollywood recently. They’re in no way a new phenomenon, but films and TV shows like Cruella, Venom and Chucky all explore some of our favourite baddies. Except, when does a villain stop being a villain when we’re asked to understand and relate to them?

Spoiler Warning: This story includes major plot details from Episode 8 and 9 of “Agatha All Along,” currently streaming on Disney+.
Agatha Harkness, the coven-less witch, and Billy Maximoff, the son of the Scarlet Witch, reached the end of the Witches’ Road in the two-part finale of “Agatha All Along” — and very little was as it first seemed.
The episodes — titled “Follow Me My Friend / To Glory at the End” and “Maiden Mother Crone” — revealed the truth of how the Witches’ Road was created, who wrote the Ballad that conjured it into being and what really happened to Agatha’s son Nicholas Scratch. Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) helped Billy (Joe Locke) locate his twin brother Tommy, Jennifer (Sasheer Zamata) discovered how her power had been bound for 100 years and Rio Vidal (Aubrey Plaza), aka Lady Death, wound up collecting (nearly) all the bodies she wanted.
But almost none of it unfolded at face value.

To say that Marvel Television's Agatha All Along has been knocking it out of the park would be a huge understatement. The series premiered on Disney Plus in September and it has had the comic book and superhero worlds in the palm of its hands ever since, with its whimsical approach, comedic presentation, and light horror elements all making it the perfect spooky season treat.
But it's also part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it has been delivering to such a level that it's one of the most worthy titles within the Multiverse Saga thus far, offering up unexpected twists, eyebrow-raising trials with life-or-death stakes, and reveals that - though some predicted - come about in the most unanticipated of ways.
That much was true in the fifth episode of the series when it was revealed that Teen, the sweet innocent boy that Agatha Harkness herself was beginning to grow quite fond of,...

“Agatha All Along” – which continued the story of Agatha Harkness and the town of Westview – ended with an origin story for its hit song “The Witches’ Road” and few answers.
The series saw Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) gather a coven of witches to help her walk The Witches’ Road so each of them could claim that which they were looking for. Agatha was unknowingly joined by Billy (Joe Locke) — Wanda and Vision’s son who survived the hex spell at the end of “WandaVision.”
Long story short, the adventure at the center of the nine-episode series turned out to Agatha’s ultimate con gone wrong, thanks to Billy’s inherited power.

Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers for the finale (Episode 9) of Agatha All Along.
Maybe the real coven true was the friendships forged along the way. The coven two, though, is a lot more complicated.
The penultimate episode of Agatha All Along brought the many miles of tricks and trials of the Witches’ Road to a close, but it left viewers with many questions about the reality of what happened and who ended up where.
Episode 8, titled “Follow Me My Friend / To Glory At the End,” suggested that the road itself was all in Billy’s mind. Episode 9, the show’s finale, titled “Maiden Mother Crone,” expands on this notion while also filling in the history of Agatha, her son Nicholas Scratch and what Rio did to make Agatha hate her. Deadline’s recap of Episode 8 will refresh viewers’ memories before they head into the finale.

Well, we made it; the Agatha All Along finale has arrived. It's been quite the journey over the course of these past seven weeks, walking the Witches' Road with the most dysfunctional coven TV may have ever seen, but the Disney Plus series has been nothing short of delightful from start through finish. A little terrifying here and there, but delightful nonetheless.
The events of the shocking eighth episode brought the main crux of the story to a close as Agatha Harkness and Rio Vidal, a.k.a. Death squared off. And with Agatha having fully obtained her powers again, it was quite a showdown to behold. However it resulted in some unexpected twists and turns that left fans feeling a certain kind of way. But what does it all mean for the future of the MCU?

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from the penultimate episode of Agatha All Along.
The conclusion of Agatha All Along is finally upon us.

Read on for a recap of the penultimate episode, titled “Follow Me My Friend, To Glory At The End.”
The episode opens back in the cabin from Episode 5, with the camera closing in on Alice, who died after Agatha siphoned her power. A hand wistfully brushes her face, and she awakens to face Rio, aka Death, as we learned in Episode 7.
Rio tells Alice “it’s time to go,” pointing to her lifeless body, still laying on the floor. Alice asks, “That’s it? That’s all the time I get?...

It's hard to believe that Agatha All Along has been on our TV screens for seven weeks. Marvel Television's most recent series has been three years in the making, bringing Kathryn Hahn back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the nefarious ancient witch Agatha Harkness. What makes it even more special is that it is a spinoff to Marvel Studios' original Disney Plus series WandaVision, so it had some pretty big witchy shoes to fill. To say that it has pulled it off would be a major understatement.
The show has definitely made the most of the fact that it's a TV series, producing episodic adventures each week based around the trials that Agatha and her coven encountered on the Witches' Road. It was like WandaVision in that way, and a wonderful return to form for the MCU TV shows. It was also a heck of a way to...

Marvel fans tuning in for the season finale of Agatha All Along on Wednesday (October 30) are likely wondering if the show will return for a second season on Disney+.
The series, which stars the likes of Kathryn Hahn, Joe Locke, Aubrey Plaza and Patti LuPone, premiered in September. It picks up where the previous show WandaVision left off and has been heralded as a breath of fresh air within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With good reviews from critics and fans alike, it seems like Agatha All Along would be renewed for another season. However, that might not be the case.
Keep reading to find out more…
If you were unaware, Agatha All Along, like many of the MCU shows on Disney+ so far, has been billed as a miniseries. That traditionally means that there are no plans for a second season.
Thus far, Marvel has only brought back Loki for a second season.

If you have been one of the many viewers watching Marvel Television's Agatha All Along, you have likely been very entertained. The series has been nothing short of a joy to watch in the weeks since its debut, bringing back Agatha Harkness and fully introducing the world of witches to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Disney Plus show has tracked Agatha's journey, as she broke free from the spell that the Scarlet Witch trapped her in at the end of WandaVision and attempted to reclaim her power (with the help of Teen). To do that, she had to walk the Witches' Road, assembling her own coven to make it happen. And in the past few weeks, she has been successful in doing so, surviving all of the trials that the Road has thrown her way (even if some of her coven members unfortunately did not).

If you still haven’t heard the earworm that is the “Ballad of the Witches’ Road,” from Marvel’s Agatha All Along count yourself lucky, because it is catchy. There are even multiple versions of the song, an original masterpiece by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez with various lyrics, which are fun to decipher. For example, Lorna Wu’s version of the ballad contains different verses than the original one sung by Agatha’s ragtag coven. Japanese Breakfast even covered a new pop version of the ballad, produced by Jack Antonoff.
Florence + the Machine’s song “Seven Devils” was used in a teaser trailer for the show. Showrunner Jac Schaeffer even made a musical nod to Dolly Parton’s song “Jolene,” hinting that Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha was the inspiration for that song in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Agatha All Along has proven to be a breakout hit for Disney+, so one might assume with the show’s smashing success both in viewership and critical acclaim a second season would be an automatic guarantee. Add in the fact that Agatha All Along is literally the cheapest Marvel show ever made – yep, that’s right despite its A-List cast and amazing effects the show is the least expensive show Marvel Studios has made thus far – and you would assume a renewal would be a slam dunk.
Sadly, that doesn’t seem to be the case here and the odds of a second season happening are incredibly low.
While Agatha All Along has been a hit in every possible way and fans have fallen in love with the Kathryn Hahn-led series, there are no plans for a second season of the show and this is by design. You see...

What will Jennifer (Sasheer Zamata) become if and when she finishes the Witches Road and how will Aubrey Plaza's Death factor into the finale? Agatha All Along showrunner and director Jac Schaeffer is feeling the pressure to satisfy the rabid fandom but the executive producer says the character's journey is satisfying.

The end of the witches’ road has seemingly come on “Agatha All Along” — unless the show gets a surprise second season renewal — with the finale hitting Disney+ on Wednesday night. And heading into it, there are a few big questions left.
First, let’s get caught up. At this point, only Agatha (Kathryn Hahn), Billy (Joe Locke) and Jen (Sasheer Zamata) are left in the coven, with the others dying in earlier episodes. Death herself is still on the table, too, as we officially found out last week that Rio Vidal (Aubrey Plaza) is, in fact, Lady Death.
By our count, there are two trials left for the group to pass, assuming Rio does get her own. And if/when that happens, what comes next? We’ll certainly find out, but first, let’s run down the answers we definitely want to see in the episodes.

If you have been watching Agatha All Along over the past seven weeks, we have news for you: You have made it to the end of the Witches' Road. Yes, the show will return for not one but two episodes this week, meaning that its season finale will be available too as it bows out like it debuted: With two bewitching episodes instead of one.
The series has been a delight for Marvel Cinematic Universe fans since it began, lighting up their TV screens every Wednesday night. Agatha Harkness' return to herself (after being trapped inside the Agnes persona for three years) has seen her recruit an eclectic coven of witches to traverse the dangers of the Witches' Road and get their prize at the end of it. And boy oh boy has it been an emotional rollercoaster!
With just two episodes of the series to go, we're all ready for some answers.

"Rio Vidal" (Aubrey Plaza) warned that all roads lead to her in last week's episode of Agatha All Along, and tonight's season finale will see Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) face Death (literally) for what might well be the last time.
Harkness built a reputation for being an especially evil and ruthless witch over the years, but it seems at least some of her wicked deeds have either been exaggerated or outright lies.
In this new clip, Lady Death asks her former lover why she allows "them to believe those things about you? About Nicky?" We had been led to believe that Agatha sacrificed her own son, Nicholas Scratch, to Mephisto in order to acquire the Darkhold, but clearly there's a lot more to the story - though Harkness' response suggests that what really happened might be even worse.

Spoiler Alert: This story discusses major plot points for “Agatha All Along,” currently streaming on Disney+.
In Marvel’s newest television series “Agatha All Along,” Kathryn Hahn reprises her role as Agatha Harkness from the studio’s 2021 hit sitcom satire “WandaVision.” Although we’ve seen this character before, everything about this iteration of Agatha — and subsequently, her show — holds palpable discrepancies to the canon of superhero universes. In aesthetic and tone, this is another world altogether, because it’s created by practical set pieces.
“We were circling a quest-type narrative that was grounded in ‘Wizard of Oz,'” says showrunner Jac Schaeffer. “It’s a fantasy show. It’s a horror show. It has all of these roots in content that came out in the ’40s…we wanted it to have that same look and feel to give the audience that same nostalgia hit that we were able to achieve...
