Georgian anti-Putin drama The Antique, which has its Venice debut suspended after a copyright complaint, is now free to screen at this year’s festival.

The U-turn was confirmed this afternoon by the festival. The film will screen on September 6. The decision will be discussed tomorrow at a public meeting in Venice with the filmmaker Rusudan Glurjidze, Venice Days President Francesco Ranieri Martinotti, Artistic Director Gaia Furrer, and attorney Fabio Moretti.

The Antique had its screenings suspended last week after an emergency decree was filed on behalf of Russian and Croatian producers claiming copyright issues with the screenplay. The claims were contested by the film’s Georgian producers and its sales agent MPM International, while the Italian media, which first reported the suspension, is suggesting the move to prevent the film screening is politically motivated.

As the third act in a trilogy of animated films based on the beloved DC comic series Crisis on Infinite Earths, Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part Three had big shoes to fill. It was tasked with wrapping up storylines from the iconic 1985–1986 miniseries as well as over a decade of DC animated movies.

An epic tale spanning countless worlds, the comic’s plot saw the Anti-Monitor threaten to wipe out the entire multiverse. Now it is up to the animated sequel to pull everything together in a climactic and satisfying conclusion.

Part Three picks up where the previous film left off, with our heroes scrambling after Supergirl is manipulated into killing the powerful Monitor. Stranded outside of the normal space-time continuum in a dimension called the Bleed, they watch helplessly as the Anti-Monitor’s devastating antimatter waves begin consuming reality.

Their only hope is splicing together a plan utilizing survivors from different worlds.

The third time is indeed the charm, as after the first two parts of the lackluster animated movie adaptation of Marv Wolfman and George Perez’s seminal work Crisis on Infinite Earths, the makers have finally got the recipe right with the final part. Tomorrowverse might not have found a strong reception among seasoned DC fans, but it surely will be remembered for its concluding chapter, as despite taking creative liberties, Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Three stays true to the core of its source material by reverberating the universal, or, shall we say, multiversal, message of hope! In the Flashpoint comics, there was a really well-placed memorable quote about acceptance, which once again gets reiterated in the climactic moments of the final entry of Tomorrowverse. Worlds lived. Worlds died. And the multiverse was truly never the same.

Typical. You wait years for a movie about a teenage American nun who becomes mysteriously pregnant when she travels to an Italian nunnery and then two come along at once.
