Özgü Namal

Ozgu Namal was born in Istanbul in 1978. Her maternal family is Turkish immigrant from Thessaloniki, Greece. Her paternal family is Turkish immigrant from North Macedonia. At the age of 14 she was
already on the theater stage. In 1996 she graduated from Uskudar
Cumhuriyet High School. In 1998 she was admitted into the Theater
Section of the Istanbul State Conservatory. During the conservatory
years she took part professionally in plays such as "Tekrar Cal Sam",
"Yan Etkili Konusmalar", and "Taraf Tutmak". Since 1998 when she
started her performing career she has had lead roles in cinema films
such as Beynelmilel, Polis, and Mutluluk and TV series such as Yeditepe
Istanbul and Hanimin Ciftligi.
With her role in the play "Kiralik Oyun" in 2005 Namal was given "The Most Successful Comedy Actress of the Year" award at the Afife Theater Awards and Sadri Alisik Theater Awards. In 2007 she was given "Best Female Actress" award at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival with the film "Mutluluk" and also at the Istanbul International Film Festival with the film "Beynelmilel".
Namal has received "Best Female Actress" award in several local and foreign festivals such as Pune International Film Festival, Funchal International Film Festival, Oxford Film Festival, and Yesilcam Awards.
