Dan Harmon had a productive discussion with Warner Bros. about the development of a Rick & Morty movie and thinks it's time to get the ball rolling. Harmon envisions the movie as a 90-minute super episode, allowing for fancy animation and crazy sequences. The discussions are still early, and there has yet to be any confirmation about the movie going into production.

Producer and creator Dan Harmon gives encouraging an update about the proposed Rick & Morty movie. The popular animated show follows the many dangerous multiversal and intergalactic adventures of Rick Sanchez and his grandson, Morty Smith. Since the show's debut in 2013, there have been speculations about a movie. Last month, Harmon hinted at the possibility of the film becoming a reality, adding that it would be like a super episode.

In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Harmon reveals that he had a productive discussion with executives at Warner Bros.

Nearly 10 months after HBO Max ordered a new series of “Degrassi”, the popular Canadian teen franchise, and also picked up the streaming rights for all 14 seasons of “Degrassi: The Next Generation”, Et has confirmed that reboot is no longer moving forward.

Originally eyed for a 2023 debut, the new “Degrassi” series was going to consist of 10 hour-long episodes and be run by showrunners Lara Azzopardi and Julia Cohen, with filming set to begin over the summer in Toronto.

The entire library of “Next Generation” episodes, meanwhile, is still available to stream on HBO Max, after first joining the platform this spring.

The first official trailer for “Raya and the Last Dragon” is here, and it gives an action-packed look at Disney’s latest animated adventure.

Released on Wednesday morning, the trailer introduces Disney fans to Raya, voiced by “Star Wars” actor Kelly Marie Tran, an experienced warrior on the hunt for the last dragon in the fictional world of Kumandra. Like any Disney main character, Raya is joined on her adventure with her trusty animal sidekick — Tuk Tuk, an adorable armadillo just as skilled at navigating ancient caves.

“My whole life, I trained to become a guardian of the Dragon Gem, but this world has changed. And its people are divided. Now, to restore peace, I must find the last dragon,” Raya says in the trailer while fighting a masked assailant.

The world of Kumandra has been split into five regions with different clans of people, who once lived in harmony with dragons.

Disney’s released the trailer for its latest animated movie “Raya and the Last Dragon” on Wednesday, and the feature film starring Kelly Marie Tran and Awkwafina looks to be straight fire.

In the two-minute, two-second preview, Raya (voiced by Tran) and her increasingly large animal sidekick Tuk Tuk go in search of the last dragon, Sisu (voiced by rapper/actress Awkwafina), in an attempt to bring warring communities together. We think.

The clip features a combination of martial-arts action scenes, some “Indiana Jones”-like treasure-hunting and, of course, some adorable animal-sidekick moments courtesy of the armadillo-esque Tuk Tuk.

Disney’s upcoming Southeast Asian animated feature, “Raya and the Last Dragon,” has a new lead voice actress in “Star Wars” breakout Kelly Marie Tran, according to an individual familiar with the project.

Tran, who rose to prominence portraying Rose Tico in Rian Johnson’s 2017 blockbuster “The Last Jedi,” is taking over lead voice acting duties from former “Degrassi: The Next Generation” star Cassie Steele, who was initially cast in the role and helped promote the film at last summer’s D23 convention.

Tran will play the title role of Raya. The animated film, due in theaters on March 12, 2021, also stars Awkwafina as Sisu, the aforementioned last dragon. The film was co-written by “Crazy Rich Asians” co-writer Adele Lim, who is joined by “Vietgone” playwright Qui Nguyen.

Oscar-winning director Don Hall directs the film alongside “Blindspotting” director Carlos López Estrada.

Kelly Marie Tran is making history. Deadline has confirmed that the Star Wars alum has joined Walt Disney Animation Studios’ forthcoming animated feature Raya and the Last Dragon as the titular heroine, marking the first Southeast Asian to lead a Disney animated film.

Tran replaces Cassie Steele, who was originally announced as the voice of Raya last year at D23 Expo. Raya and the Last Dragon is set in the fantasy kingdom of Kumandra and follows a warrior who teams with a crew of misfits in her quest to find the Last Dragon and bring light and unity back to their world. Tran joins Awkawafina, who plays a dragon in human form named Sisu.

Also joining the Raya and the Last Dragon team are Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada (Blindspotting) as directors, as well as playwright Qui Nguyen (Vietgone) who will join Adele Lim as co-writer.

Kelly Marie Tran will voice the main character in Disney’s animated adventure “Raya and the Last Dragon,” replacing the voice role previously held by Cassie Steele.

“Raya and the Last Dragon,” set in a fictional fantasy land called Kumandra, follows a fearless warrior as she seeks to save the realm from evil forces. As previously announced, Awkwafina voices a character named Sisu, a rare water dragon who can transform into a human being. Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada are directing the film, which was written by Qui Nguyen and Adele Lim.

Tran shot to fame after starring in 2017’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” She reprised her role as rebel mechanic Rose Tico in 2019’s “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” the final chapter in the nine-part Skywalker saga. Her casting in “Raya and the Last Dragon” makes Tran the first Southeast Asian American to lead a Disney animated film.

L.A. Complex 2.0 has received a very early eviction notice. The CW’s in-the-works reboot of the showbiz-themed Canadian soap is not moving forward, series co-creator Martin Gero has confirmed.

When a fan on Instagram asked Gero if the project — which was announced back in Oct. 2018 — was dead, the EP responded, “Sadly, yes.”

Focus Features has set an Aug. 21 release date for the Kevin Costner-Diane Lane suspense thriller “Let Him Go,” opening against “Bill and Ted Face the Music.”

Costner plays a retired sheriff and Lane will portray his wife. After the loss of their son, the couple leaves their Montana ranch to rescue their young grandson from the clutches of a dangerous family living off the grid in the Dakotas. When they arrive, they discover the family has no intention of letting the child go.

The two collaborated on “Man of Steel” and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” as the parents of Superman.

The making of “Frozen 2” (November 22) came at a tumultuous time for Disney Animation, as the film’s writer-director Jennifer Lee succeeded John Lasseter as chief creative officer. A representative for Lim confirmed her departure from the Warner Bros. projects. The rep declined to comment further. Warner Bros. did not respond to a request for comment.

“Crazy Rich Asians,” based on the 2013 novel by Kevin Kwan, follows a young Asian American woman who meets her boyfriend’s parents — and discovers they’re one of the richest families in Singapore. Constance Wu played the lead with Henry Golding as her fiancé and Michelle Yeoh as her future mother-in-law.

“Let it go?” As if! The long-awaited sequel to 2013’s modern Disney classic “Frozen” is due in theaters Nov. 22. Once again directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, this installment follows the gang as they set out on a journey to find the origin of Elsa’s powers in order to save their kingdom.

Idina Menzel, who plays Queen Elsa, is reunited with Kristen Bell, who voices Queen Anna. Josh Gad is back as snowman sidekick Olaf, with Jonathan Groff as iceman Kristoff, and Santino Fontana as Hans, also in tow. New additions to the film, which picks up three years after the original, include Evan Rachel Wood as the siblings’ mother, and Sterling K. Brown.

In an extensive clip from the first act shown at D23 on Saturday, the sisters, Olaf, and Sven are playing a game of charades but Elsa is distracted by a mysterious voice that she hears singing.

Between Game of Thrones and the How to Train Your Dragon franchise, you might be getting a little sick of CGI dragons. Well guess what, bub? You'll be sick of dragons when Disney Says you're sick of dragons.

Disney announced during their D23 Expo in Anaheim, California that they are producing an animated film called Raya and the Last Dragon. Little is known about the plot thus far but it will follow the titular Raya as she tracks down the last dragon in the world. Disney also provided some intriguing art.

Walt Disney Animation Studios has taken the wraps off its next project, unveiling at the D23 Expo on Saturday Raya and the Last Dragon, which will star Cassie Steele and Crazy Rich Asians standout Awkwafina. A November 25, 2020 release date has been set.

Disney treated fans at D23 Expo Saturday to their first look at “Raya and the Last Dragon,” a new animated film starring Awkwafina and written by Adele Lim, co-writer of “Crazy Rich Asians.”

Onstage at the expo in Anaheim, California, Awkwafuna, co-star Cassie Steele (“Degrassi: The Next Generation”), producer Osnat Shurer and Lim, explained that the film is inspired by Hong Kong action films with a setting inspired by Southeast Asia.

Set in Kumandra, a fantasy world with five lands and a sea shaped like a dragon, the film follows Raya (Steele), a lone warrior on a quest to find the last dragon, whom she believes can save Kumandra from a so-far unrevealed evil force. The CW is moving back into The L.A. Complex: The network is developing a reboot of the showbiz-themed Canadian drama, which aired for two seasons.

Degrassi was one of the most beloved teen dramas in the early 2000s, which is why fans were deep in their feelings when the cast reunited for Drake's latest music video, "I'm Upset." Not only is the high-school-reunion-themed video jam-packed with nostalgic references (including the show's iconic theme song), but it also reintroduces us to our favorite characters and the actors who played them. The Dorm is set to make its debut on Sunday, October 26th as part of MTV's Halloween-themed programming. Today, we have a look at the trailer for the supernatural thriller which was directed by Rachel Talalay (Freddy's Dead, Tank Girl) and scripted by Halloween: Resurrection's Sean Hood.

Tulip Fever

Christoph Waltz is set to star in Justin Chadwick's 17th century Dutch drama "Tulip Fever" for Ruby Films and The Weinstein Company. Alison Owen will produce and pre-production begins in April.

Salma Hayek and Shohreh Aghdashloo are attached to star in Wayne Blair's thriller adaptation of Dalia Sofer's novel "The Septembers of Shiraz" for Millennium Films. Filming begins in April.

Based on actual events, the story follows a Jewish family caught in the Islamic revolution in 1981 Iran who try to come together and escape the deadly tyranny. Hayek is the mother, is Aghdashloo is the family’s housekeeper.

Earlier this month, we learned that Bell Media had cancelled The La Complex after two seasons on the air. The low-rated drama aired on The CW here in the states but was produced in Canada.

Word was that The CW was involved in talks about possibly keeping the show going for a third season but we now know that won't happen. The CW has cancelled La Complex as well, according to THR.

The series was sold to nearly 170 territories so the show could potentially continue without the Us and Canada outlets but that seems highly unlikely.
