En équilibre
Director: Denis Dercourt // Writer: Denis Dercourt
French director Denis Dercourt is generally underappreciated in the Us, despite having helmed the superb 2006 film The Page Turner, which premiered at Cannes and is one of his only titles to receive Us distribution. In 2013, Dercourt helmed two titles, Flesh of My Flesh and the German production, A Pact, neither of which have been lucky enough to see play in the Us outside of minor festivals. We have high hopes for this project, which has been cited as the filmmaker’s biggest project yet and is headlined by Cecile de France (known to English speaking audiences for High Tension and Hereafter), as well as the very busy French actor/director Albert Dupontel. His seventh feature film (see set pic above) En équilibre (In Balance) concerns Marc, an equestrian who after a serious accident on a film shoot, loses all hope to mount back on.

Thanks to our friends at Production Weekly for the helping hand in curating our list of future must see items.
Among the top foreign film productions, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover‘s Peter Greenaway is looking at a late October, possible November start to begin filming a fragment of the great Soviet master filmmaker Sergei Eisenstein’s bio timeline. Eisenstein In Guanajuato will cover the portion of the filmmaker’s post Battleship Potemkin career, with Eisenstein landing in Mexico after Hollywood studios balked at the idea of working with him and in its place finds romance. - A biopic about an unknown painter cleaned up the 34th edition of the Cesar awards (France's equivalent to the Oscars). You would have thought that it was an homage to Sean Penn (the actor was in attendance, first row ticket) and the dearly departed Claude Berri, but this was Martin Provost's night upsetting favorites Jean-François Richet and Mesrine (who won for Best Director and Best Actor) and the Palme d'Or winner The Class from Laurent Cantet winner went home with only the Best Adapted Film. Séraphine won a total of seven awards. Kristin Scott Thomas didn't claim the top prize for Best Actress for I've Loved You So Long (the prize went to Yolande Moreau in Séraphine) but Philippe Claudel won for Best First Film and a very emotional Elsa Zylberstein grabbed the Best Supporting Actress nod. Finally, a little bit of redemption here for Best Foreign Picture,
