More than half a million people are shareholders in the Green Bay Packers — and the team’s former quarterback Aaron Rodgers is taking a similar fan-owned approach with his internet startup, the Online Sports Database, which seeks to build a community by crowdsourcing $1.25 million in bridge funding.
Rodgers and actor Ryan Rottman launched Osdb in 2021 after chatting about the gap in the marketplace at Casa Vega in Sherman Oaks. Rottman had wondered why there wasn’t a sports equivalent of IMDb, so he asked Rogers what he thought of the idea.
“We went to dinner one night, and I just said, ‘As an athlete, is this something you think you would utilize? Like, do you think it would help you? Do you think people would care?'” Rottman recalls. He remembers Rogers asking if he’d told anyone else about his idea. “I said, ‘A couple buddies.’ And he said,...

Nick Cannon’s eponymous syndicated daytime talk show is coming to an end after one season. The show’s producer-distributor, Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury, is expected to tell the crew that the two episodes filming today will be the talker’s last ones.
I hear the original plan had been for the show to go on a five-week hiatus while Nick Cannon is busy filming Fox’s The Masked Singer and VH1’s Wild “N Out, with the crew getting a week of pay during the break. The show won’t get off the air right away; there are enough episodes in the can to take it through the season, sources said.

VH1 is launching a holiday movie slate and has drafted features from exec producers including Eva Longoria, Jamie Foxx and Nick Cannon.
The ViacomCBS network is launching its Naughty or Nice strand at the end of November through December with five made-for-television movies – Adventures in Christmasing, The Bitch Who Stole Christmas, Hip Hop Family Christmas, Let’s Get Merried and Miracles Across 125th Street.
Adventures in Christmasing centers around Parker Baldwin, a highly successful and meticulous talk show host who plans everything to a T, finds her Christmas plans upended when her network persuades her to spend three days in the wild with superstar adventurer & television survivalist Finn Holt for a holiday television event. The two butt heads until they find themselves stranded together in the wild with no food, unreliable shelter and no form of communication. Unexpectedly impacting each other, they come to realize life is the greatest adventure.

MTV lost one of its most durable franchises in July when the host of “Nick Cannon Presents Wild ‘N Out” host and producer was embroiled in controversy over anti-Semitic he remarks made on an unrelated podcast.
But the show may not be down for the count too long. Chris McCarthy, president of ViacomCBS’ Entertainment and Youth Group which includes MTV, was the architect of reviving the improv comedy competition series once before on MTV2. In 2016, when he took on MTV, “Wild ‘N Out” moved back on to MTV where it had blossomed as a digital hit and a live event franchise — until Cannon’s comments torpedoed that momentum.
ViacomCBS was quick to sever ties with Cannon after he asserted on his “Cannon’s Class” podcast that Black people are “the true Hebrews” and made other offensive comments. Cannon, the host of Fox’s “The Masked Singer,” has apologized and acknowledged the significance of his mistake.

Tonight is the final episode of Nine’s first outing of Big Brother. With 300 crew members, 42 cameras and almost 90 hours of television broadcast each series, there is no TV production quite like it. Encore managing editor Brooke Hemphill visits the set of the revived reality show to see how it is put together and finds the training ground for Australia’s television industry.
Down the dark corridor, lit only by red strip lighting on the floor, thick black curtains cover one-way mirrors. Like a sex peep show, unidentifiable silhouettes peer through gaps in the curtains. “Shhhh. The housemates are over here,” a voice whispers shining a torch in Encore’s direction. We’re in the camera space of the Big Brother house, where up to five camera crew are on shift staffing the 10 fixed cameras rationed between the various rooms. It’s a maze of corridors populated only by the camera team,...

Rise Media Group has closed its literary/production division after an internal review found its performance was not up to scratch.
The company, which originally launched as Woodburn Sweitzer Management (Wsm) in late-2009, will now focus on growing its talent, packaging (film and TV) and brand building divisions.
Rise managing director and founder Rob Woodburn said: "We have given the literary/production department ample time to show positive results but it unfortunately has not met our expectations. We will be focusing our energies on our core strengths [Talent, Packaging and Brand Building] moving forward."
Literary manager and producer Keith Sweitzer has now left the company and is set to return to the United States.
The company's first feature film, John Doe, is in post-production, while documentary feature Morning Glass begins production next month in Mexico, USA, Australia and Hawaii.
One North Entertainment, formerly known as Rgm Media, also attempted to turn its talent agency into...

Mike Goldman is best known for his continuing role in the Big Brother Australia series since it began more than a decade ago.
However, the 39 year-old Goldman is aiming to transcend the common typecasting of reality television hosts through his starring role as a fictional version of himself in the feature film, Shooting Goldman, due for release in 2013.
"This is completely out of character for me," Goldman said of his his role in the film. His inspiration was "to make a movie where people aren.t sure whether I.m being myself".
Shooting Goldman is a psychological-thriller based on a reality television host whose career and life has been fabricated to an extent.
Goldman.s satirical representation of the reality television genre which is primarily responsible for his recent fame reflects his feeling that "people are just going to pigeon hole me" if he does not challenge the perception of his identity.

Jason Mountney goes on the set of Channel Nine’s talent search series, The Voice, to see how the format, based on an international franchise, has come together. What ingredients have gone into making this certified hit that’s rated more than two million viewers on three consecutive nights?
Mike Goldman has one of the toughest jobs on the set of the Nine network’s new talent show, The Voice. He not only has to narrate the show, but also keep the audience from losing their enthusiasm as they realise shooting TV programs takes a lot longer than the one-hour bursts they see in their lounge rooms. A lot longer.
An ecstatic audience in the background is just one piece of the puzzle Nine and production company Shine are using to elevate the talent show to the much-vaunted “water-cooler TV” status that brings big advertising bucks and gets viewers to stick around.
