Singer, pianist, ukulele player, songwriter, author, Radio DJ, television presenter and actor. His grandfather H.J. Whitcomb co-founded film production company British Screen Classics in 1925, and his father pianist Pat Whitcombe appeared in one of the films.

The same year that Titanic (1997) was released in theatres, Ian Whitcomb released the CD "Titanic: Music as Heard on the Fateful Voyage (Rhino R2 72821)." He won a Grammy for the CD in 1998.
