- While at Cambridge, he successfully bet on horses, attending local tracks, studying the workouts and other stuff, studiously, to "earn" vacation and social expenses.
- He did a theme paper of which he was very proud about Pirandello and "Three Characters in Search of An Author." Which may explain his fascination for Edie Sedgewick.
