Director: Sergei Bodrov; Screenwriter: Chris Weitz; Starring: Ben Barnes, Julianne Moore, Jeff Bridges, Kit Harington, Alicia Vikander; Running time: 102 mins; Certificate: 12A
It's been a rocky year for Oscar winners embracing roles in fantasy blockbusters. Eddie Redmayne delivered a pungent ham and cheese performance in The Wachowskis' Jupiter Ascending, while Julianne Moore turns it up to 11 for her role as an evil witch in this week's Seventh Son.
Moore was years away from even setting foot on the set of Still Alice when she made Seventh Son (it's been trapped in post-production hell for a while), but it does make you wonder if there's some truth to the myth that Oscar winners seem destined for an immediate career stumble. Moore at least seems to be having fun with her role as Seventh Son's Mother Malkin. To say she's chewing the scenery would be a slight misnomer seeing as so...

As your teeth crack the crisp (if it just came out of the frier) outer shell and squish through the processed meat inside, your mouth is covered with a viscous layer of... something, preventing the taste from leaving your mouth long after you've swallowed. In an effort to fix this you take another bite, this time dipped in even more sauce, but the result is the same. The McNugget is a mirage. It isn't chicken and no amount of sauce is going to...

Just Jared is reporting that Bridges (of True Grit, and just generally being amazing, fame) has come aboard The Seventh Son, in which he’ll play an exorcist. The film will also star Alex Pettyfer (the upcoming I Am Number Four) and current Academy Award nominee Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone) will be portraying the accused witch.
It’s a period film set in the 1700′s that sees Pettyfer’s character, Tom Ward as an exorcist in training. Lawrence will essay a suspected witch. The film is based on Joseph Delaney’s young adult novels.
