Chicago – In his humility, Norman Lear liked to express that he was “just another version of you.” In our humanity, we are different renderings, but all related, as the titan of TV philosophically said. Norman Lear died at his home in Los Angeles on December 5th, 2023. He was 101 years old.

In 2015, Lear was lecturing at the Art Institute of Chicago, and I was privileged to get the opportunity to talk to him for a brief but significant amount of time. If the goal is to seek truth, there is no better guru. As an influencer on our times, Norman Lear is a cultural juggernaut, yet his humility is a driving force of his connection to his fellow humans, and he lived to connect to others.

Norman Lear: Just Another Version of You

Lear is the embodiment of television history, having worked in the medium since its advent in the 1950s.

Television pioneer Norman Lear died Tuesday at the age of 101. The TV creator was associated with a bevy of family comedies throughout the 1970s, namely “All in the Family,” “Sanford and Son,” and “The Jeffersons.”

Lear died of “natural causes,” his reps said in a media release shared with IndieWire. A private service for immediate family will be held.

“It is with profound sadness and love that we announce the passing of Norman Lear, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather,” a family statement, posted to Lear’s official social-media accounts, reads. “Norman passed away peacefully on December 5, 2023, surrounded by his family as we told stories and sang songs until the very end.”

Paramount+ has announced that Academy Award winner Helen Mirren and Academy Award nominee Harrison Ford will star in the highly anticipated next chapter of the Yellowstone origin story, 1932 (working title). The latest installment in the Dutton family saga comes from perennial television workhorse Taylor Sheridan, whose work on Yellowstone, 1883 and Mayor of Kingstown has made him the golden ticket for Paramount Network and Paramount+. Yellowstone broke audience records for cable, only to be overshadowed by the performance of 1883, which became the most-watched title ever on Paramount+ worldwide.

Norman Lear accepted the Carol Burnett Award on Sunday’s Golden Globes, and imparted some wisdom on longevity as he prepares to celebrate his 99th birthday this year.

British songstress Lily Allen has suffered a miscarriage. The singer confirmed the news through a statement made by her publicist.

"It is with great sadness that we have to confirm that Lily Allen and Sam Cooper have lost their baby," her rep Murray Chalmers said, according to People.com. "The couple ask that their privacy be respected and that they be left alone at this deeply distressing time. No further comment will be made."

Allen, 25, announced she was pregnant back in August and just weeks ago announced that she and 32-year-old Cooper, an upmarket decorator and owner of a building company, were expecting a boy this January. Lily Allen revealed last September that she was preparing to take a break from music, declining to renew her record contract and saying she had no plans whatsoever to release a new album anytime soon. And while she plans to put her music career on hold after fulfilling her current performance commitments, she'll have anything but a ton of free time in the future.

The 25-year-old Allen has announced that she and her boyfriend are set to become parents.

"Lily Allen and Sam Cooper are very happy to confirm that Lily is expecting their first child," her rep told People. "Lily's professional commitments will carry on as normal, including a scheduled performance at the Big Chill this weekend.
