Originally from Costa Rica, Maria completed graduate studies at LIU; worked in L.A., on the inception of the original "Star Search"; in 1978, joined the Honey Sanders Agency, as one of the youngest P.O.C. agents in the U.S.
In 1987, along with Ellyn Long Marshall, Maria co-founded award-winning Orpheus Group Casting; with the commitment to help package, cast and produce Independent Film, Television and Theater projects, featuring Multi-Cultural themes. Orpheus Group Casting is lauded for discovery of "new talent" (including Michelle Rodriguez, America Ferrera, Wilson Jermaine Heredia, Kevin Hart, Catalina Sandino Moreno).
