Ti West is best known for his independent horror work such as “The House of the Devil,” “The Innkeepers,” and his work in the anthology horror films “V/H/S” and “The ABCs of Death.” But this year, West switched things up with a revenge western starring Ethan Hawke entitled “In a Valley of Violence,” about a mysterious drifter and the trouble he faces passing through a new town.

“In a Valley of Violence” follows Paul (Ethan Hawke), a mysterious drifter who is making his way towards Mexico through the Old West with only his trusted dog by his side. In an attempt to take a shortcut, Paul passes through Denton, Texas, a nearly abandoned no-horse town dubbed by locals as the “valley of violence.” It’s controlled by a group of violent misfits led by brash troublemaker Gilly Martin (James Ransone), the son of the town’s marshal Clyde Martin (John Travolta). As tension between Paul and Gilly rise immediately, the Denton residents witness an act of violence that sets off a chain of events which affects everybody in the small town.
