Music composer Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma, of Laxmikant-Pyarelal fame, has been honoured with the prestigious Padma Bhushan, not only as a celebration of his musical prowess, but also in acknowledgment of his role in defining the golden era of Hindi film music.
The octogenarian learnt the basics of music from his father, the renowned trumpeteer of his time, Ramprasad ‘Babaji’ Sharma. He then aced the violin under the guidance of the Goan musician Anthony Gonsalves, whom he went on to immortalise in the song ‘My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves’, which was picturised on Amitabh Bachchan (who also contributed to the vocals) in the 1977 film ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’.

Mumbai, Sep 16 (Ians) Actress Mugdha Chaphekar, who essays the role of Prachi in the television show ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, has shared her plans for the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi which will take over the financial capital of the country,Mumbai, for the next 10 days starting September 19.
The actress shared that being a Maharashtrian, she has been celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi since her childhood.

TV actress Juhi Parmar, known for her role as Kumkum in the long-running soap opera ‘Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan’, revealed that she got a “second life” and became “grateful forever” after she was saved in hospital when food got stuck in her windpipe one night in 2019.
Speaking in the podcast ‘The Habit Coach with Ashdin Doctor’, Juhi shared the incident that “changed her forever” and she developed the habit of being grateful for everything in her life.
She said: “I had a very, very big incident which I shared on Instagram. I call this my second life. Because on March 19, 2019 it was the night of Holi. I was almost gone. I was in the ICU. Food had got stuck in my nose and windpipe, and I was not able to breathe; and it was a very, very difficult night.”
She continued: “But that night just changed something in me.

Kumkum Bhagya’s Kushagra Nautiyal opened up on how he and his co-actor Krishna Kaul were part of the same rock band during college days and they shared an equal love for music. In fact, Kushagra is fond of playing the guitar and before starting his acting career, he used to jam at different locations of Delhi.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates -- Oscar winner Susan Sarandon spoke about her role as an actress and activist during the second annual Middle East International Film Festival.
Sarandon was guest of honor at a Cinema Verite screening of social documentary "The Shape of Water," narrated by Sarandon and directed by scholar and cultural critic Kum Kum Bhavani. The documentary revolves around the local activism of five women in Brazil, India, Jerusalem and Senegal in response to issues facing them such as oppression and lack of economic freedom.
"These women represent films which have resulted in a tipping of consciousness and made a difference," Sarandon said in a panel discussion after the screening. "In the U.S. we don't have the opportunity to see these films; even English documentaries are hard to find. Festivals are a wonderful opportunity for people to see documentaries they might not normally see."
