Ringo Starr is returning to country music with his new album, Look Up, produced and co-written by T Bone Burnett. It will be released in full on January 10th, 2025, but the first preview, “Time on My Hands,” is out now. Stream it below.

Featuring 11 original songs, Look Up was recorded earlier this year in Nashville and Los Angeles. It was born out of Starr’s chance encounter with Burnett at a Los Angeles event in 2022, where Starr asked Burnett to write him a song for a project he was recording at the time. Two of music’s all-time greatest songwriters, Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson, will hit the road together this summer. As announced today, Dylan will co-headline all 26 shows of Nelson’s 2024 “Outlaw Music Festival Tour.”

The epic run of shows will also feature Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, John Mellencamp, Billy Strings, Brittney Spencer, and Celisse at select dates.

The 2024 “Outlaw Music Festival Tour” officially launches on June 23rd in Raleigh, North Carolina. The initial run of shows includes stops in Virginia Beach, Va; Syracuse, NY; Bethel, NY; and Hershey, Pa. A second leg will take place in late summer, featuring dates in Los Angeles, CA; Mountain View, CA; Spokane, Wa; George, Wa; Tinley Park, Il; and Clarkston, Mi.

Spanning nearly 30 shows, the “Can’t Let Go Tour” launches on June 2nd in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The itinerary also includes shows in Lincoln, Ne; Madison, Wi; Missoula, Mt; Vancouver; BC; Seattle, Wa; Santa, Fe, Nm; and Colorado Springs, Co. Jd McPherson will provide support on the duration of the tour.

The cover was recorded during the band’s visit to Mountain Stage, NPR Music, and West Virginia Public Broadcasting’s long-running live radio show and features as the opening track on an upcoming compilation highlighting performances from the series.

“As a gratefully, if not begrudgingly, Earth-bound band, it’s always an honor and a challenge to tackle any of David Bowie’s space-soaring arrangements,” Wilco said in a statement.

Monday, January 8th, would’ve been David Bowie’s 77th birthday. To mark the occasion, Wilco has shared their rendition of Bowie’s 1969 hit, “Space Oddity.”

The release hails from Wilco’s 2023 performance on Mountain Stage (a public radio show distributed by NPR Music), and will be included on an upcoming compilation announced today titled Live On Mountain Stage: Outlaws and Outliers, due on April 19th via Oh Boy Records.

Presenting a wonderfully Wilco-esque take on “Space Oddity” — itself named the 43rd best song of all time by Consequence in 2012 — the band settles into an acoustic arrangement, allowing Jeff Tweedy’s vocals to masterfully convey the tune’s enduring appeal for humanity.

Perhaps inspired by Dave Grohl’s own recent interpretation, Robert Plant dusted off Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” for the first time in in 16 years during a charity concert in the UK on Saturday night.

Plant’s performance came as part of “An Evening With Andy Taylor And Special Guests,” a charity concert organized by former Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor benefiting the Cancer Awareness Trust. (Taylor was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer in 2018.)
