Malayalam film Kanyaka Talkies by K. R. Manoj will open the feature film category while Kamal Swaroop’s Rangbhoomi will open the non-feature category of Indian Panorama at the International Film Festival of India (Iffi) 2013.
Indian Panorama will screen 26 Feature films and 16 Non-Feature films.
The jury for Feature films, headed by filmmaker and editor B. Lenin, selected 25 films out of a total of 210 eligible entries. Paan Singh Tomar by Tigmanshu Dhulia which won the Best Feature Film award at the 60th National Film Awards has been selected by virtue of direct entry.
The Non-Feature films Jury, chaired by director Raja Sen, picked 15 films out of 130 eligible entries. Kashmiri film Shepherds of Paradise directed by Raja Shabir Khan which won Best Non – Feature Film award at the 60th National Film Awards has also been selected by virtue of direct entry.

The 18th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala has announced its line-up of films in the International Competition Section, Indian Cinema Now and Malayalam Cinema Today sections.
Four Indian films will compete in the International Competition Section. The festival, to be held from December 6-13, 2013, is organised by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy on behalf of the Cultural Affairs Department, Government of Kerala.

The highly-rated film The Lunchbox has lost the race as India's Oscar nominee for 2013. The elegiac, haunting tragic Gujarati travel drama The Good Road has won the coveted privilege of being India's official Oscar entry for this year. The film earlier won the National award for Best Feature Film in Gujarati. Speaking on the decision on Saturday evening the head of the jury for the Oscar selection, filmmaker Gautam Ghose said, "We chose this wonderful Gujarati film The Good Road. We were surprised by the film. There were other strong contenders in the short-list, Ritesh Batra's The Lunchbox Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Bhaag Milkha Bhaag , Gauri Shinde's English Vinglish and Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam and also two regional films Kaushik Ganguly's Shabdo, and the Malayalam film Celluloid directed by Kamal." There were 16 members in the jury. They were given the task of sifting through all the entries.

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 22: Prithviraj and Rima Kallingal bagged the best actor and actress awards, respectively, at the Kerala State Film Awards 2012 announced here Friday.
While Prithviraj won the award for his performances in "Celluloid" and "Ayalum Njanum Thammil", Rima got the best actress award for her performance in the film "22 Female Kottayam" and "Nidra".
Directed by Kamal, "Celluloid", based on the life of J.C. Daniel, the pioneer of Malayalam cinema, was also adjudged the best film.
The awards were announced by state Cinema Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar.
"This year the jury had a tough job to perform.
