After weeks of internet theorizing, Severance fans are finally getting (some) answers.
In this week’s episode, “Woe’s Hollow” (now streaming on Apple TV+), the Lumon Macrodata Refinement team embarks on a snowy overnight retreat, one that deepens the show’s overall mythology and has major implications for everyone involved, including Mark (Adam Scott) and Helly (Britt Lower), whose personal connection takes a turn. Where the team, which also includes Dylan (Zach Cherry) and Irving (John Turturro), goes in the wake of the episode’s shocking revelations is ultimately anyone’s guess, but the Emmy-winning puzzle box show’s remarkable ability to connect with and surprise viewers on a consistent basis makes Severance the awards contender to watch this weekend.

Patricia Arquette recently told “Severance” co-star Adam Scott during a game of “Hot Ones Versus” that her actor ex-husband once screwed her over after they made a pact about doing sex scenes in movies and television shows.
“I was married to somebody at the time and we were very young and impressionable people,” Arquette said. “We made a deal that we were going to eat garlic if we had to do love scenes, so I ate garlic before I had to kiss Ewan McGregor and I’m like, ‘I’m so sorry, but I told my husband I was going to have to eat some garlic.’”
“Then he had to do a love scene and I’m like, ‘Well, did you eat garlic?’ He’s like, ‘I thought we were kidding,’” she continued. “I was like, ‘What?!’”

In 2023, Tubi made its Super Bowl debut with a viral ad that had viewers questioning whether their feed went down in the middle of a face-off between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.
“The goal on that night was just to make people aware of what Tubi was. We had very low awareness,” chief marketing officer Nicole Parlapiano told TheWrap. “I just wanted people to know our name, and I wanted to stand out.”
Two years later, the Chiefs and Eagles are facing off yet again — but Tubi is in a very different place, simulcasting the big game in 4K for the first time as part of a Fox Sports takeover on Feb. 9.
The free, ad-supported streaming platform, which was acquired by Fox Corp. for $440 million in 2020, has grown to 97 million monthly active users — who streamed 10 billion hours of programming in 2024 — and is on track to cross the $1 billion revenue mark this fiscal year.

Prepare to see a reunion between “Gilmore Girls” alums Lauren Graham and Amy Sherman-Palladino.
“There are a couple things that we’ve been talking about,” Graham told TheWrap.
For the actor who portrayed Lorelai, the ongoing success of “Gilmore Girls” “continues to surprise me.” “We have the 25th anniversary coming up [in October], and I know there will be some events or celebrations or acknowledgements or however we’re going to mark that. All you can do is be grateful and amazed,” she said.
Because of her love for the series and Lorelai, the star finds it “gratifying” that people continue to find The WB original, which is available to stream on Netflix and Hulu. She noted that there was a timeless quality to the series “except for some of our fashions” and praised the comedy for having the “nicest fans in the world.”
“I feel it engenders a community of kindness.

“The Z-Suite” isn’t the first time Lauren Graham has helped a new network launch one of its flagship shows.
“When we did ‘Gilmore Girls,’ The WB was pretty new, so I thought it was cool to be part of a new platform,” Graham told TheWrap. The mother-daughter comedy-drama was the 16th original series to premiere on The WB and later became one of its most popular shows.
“Back then, I don’t think I understood pressure in the same way,” Graham said. “I got to an upfront where they told us we were up against ‘Friends.’ I was like, ‘Oh, that’s the literal opposite of pressure because no one expects us to do anything numbers wise.'”
Twenty-five years later, Graham is back in a similar position as the lead of Tubi’s very first entry into the world of scripted television, “The Z-Suite.” But unlike in the 2000s,...

Oi with the poodles already! 2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the first time Lorelai Gilmore walked into Luke’s Diner, talking a million miles a minute and immediately launching one of the most beloved shows ever. And just as the fans are no doubt ready to revisit Stars Hollow, Lauren Graham might also be open to a Gilmore Girls return.
While Gilmore Girls fans did get the four-episode A Year in the Life in 2016, it’s now been nine years — the same length between the conclusion of the original series and that miniseries. Appearing on The Tonight Show, Graham was asked if reprising Lorelei is something she would consider. “I always say yes because it’s the best part I ever had and I love doing it…it’s just that thing where it was the perfect material at the perfect time with the perfect writer and it just means so much to me…...

In December 2024, Walmart released a Gilmore Girls-themed commercial. While the ad spot was short, it did give fans a glimpse into life inside Stars Hollow in 2024. Luke Danes, Lorelai Gilmore, and Kirk Gleason were the characters the advertisement opted to feature. Still, hints of other Gilmore Girls characters can be seen. Lauren Graham, the actor who portrayed Lorelai, recently revealed that fans get a glimpse into the life of Rory Gilmore’s child during the ad. Tubi is tackling the corporate age gap in its first original scripted comedy The Z-Suite, led by Gilmore Girls favorite Lauren Graham and Superstore vet Nico Santos. Created by Katie O’Brien, the series tracks the fall of advertising big shot, Monica Marks (Graham), whose house of cards with loyal exec Doug Garcia (Santos) comes tumbling down after a disastrous ad campaign fumble. Seen as out of touch in their approach, Monica and Doug are pushed aside for their Gen Z counterparts, giving social media manager Kriska Thompson (Madison Shamoun) a shot at the top. The concept proves that while generations may be very different in approaches, their struggles are ultimately somewhat similar as Monica and Doug face a new uphill battle and Kriska and fellow Gen Zers must adapt to the crushing weight of top-level responsibility. The project came to Graham in a hotel lobby when her agent called. “I always read things so fast,...

Twinless starts like a prototypical Sundance movie––grim and serious, plus unexpected levity. That’s the general formula for a festival that might as well have manufactured the term “dramedy.” In this case there’s an offscreen car accident and quick cut to a funeral. Roman (Dylan O’Brien) stands grieving beside his mother (Lauren Graham) as the casket containing his gay identical twin brother, Rocky, is lowered into the ground. It’s a somber affair––tears, tissues, a violinist’s rendition of “Danny Boy”––until the song pauses abruptly on a false note, engendering awkward silence. It’s the first permission you have to laugh, then to recognize the faint absurdity of a gathering in which mourners approach Roman and bawl at his uncanny likeness to the deceased.

Over the course of seven seasons, fans learned a lot about the beloved characters in Gilmore Girls. While the show is often praised for its quick wit and attention to detail, there are still plenty of Gilmore Girls plot holes that bother fans. With each new re-watch, more inconsistencies appear. For example, do you know where the Dragonfly Inn was located? It actually had more than one address, according to the show’s writers.
Where did Lorelai Gilmore say the Dragonfly Inn was located?
When fans first met Lorelai Gilmore, she worked at the Independence Inn. After a fire, she moved on and opened her own business in Stars Hollow. The Dragonfly Inn was an important location starting in season 4; its address even factored into a storyline or two.

Writer-director James Sweeney is no stranger to novel concepts that walk a tonal and thematic tightrope. In his 2019 feature-length directorial debut, Straight Up, he starred as a young gay man so turned off by sex that he seeks a relationship with a woman, turning a silly and potentially retrograde setup into an anti-rom-com exploration of contemporary sexual identity, Ocd, and the modern complexities of finding love. Sweeney brings the same keenly observational millennial eye to his sophomore feature, Twinless, a bizarrely moving and darkly comic story about feeling like you’ve lost something you never had.
Twinless opens at a funeral, with the straight Roman (Dylan O’Brien) and his mother (Lauran Graham) receiving mourners after the death of Roman’s twin brother, Rocky (also O’Brien). “Twinless,” a comedic drama starring Dylan O’Brien, has been pulled from Sundance’s streaming site after sex scenes and other content from the film leaked online. The leaks came as “Twinless” won the festival’s coveted Audience Award on Friday.
It’s the second movie to be pulled from Sundance’s site this year. “Selena y Los Dinos,” a documentary about Tejano singer Selena, was also scrubbed from the service after the film “suffered a series of copyright infringements,” meaning it also leaked online. You know what TV has been sorely missing these days? If you guess Lauren Graham, then ding, ding, ding, you are correct! The beloved Gilmore Girls star has been away from the small screen since her Disney+ series The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers was canceled after two seasons in 2022. But she's back with a new series, and it has one particular theme in common with Gilmore Girls.
Graham headlines the upcoming Tubi original series The Z-Suite, a comedy premiering Thursday, Feb. 6 that marks a new era for the free, ad-supported streaming service. And what a better star to start a new era with than Lauren Graham? The Santa Clauses and Teachers writer Katie O'Brien created the series, which also counts Graham and Tristram Shapeero as executive producers. Translation: It's going to be funny!

Actor Dylan O’Brien revealed the careful preparation behind his dual performance in “Twinless,” where strategic production scheduling helped him create distinct identities for twin characters Rocky and Roman.
“We actually constructed our shoot schedule around separating Rocky and Rome,” director James Sweeney told senior writer Drew Taylor at TheWrap’s Sundance Studio presented by World of Hyatt. O’Brien noted this was a priority discussed “years before we shot the movie,” as he “really want them to have some type of physical difference in some type of way.”
The dark comedy centers on two young men who meet in a twin bereavement support group and form an unlikely bond.
The physical transformation included growing a real mustache for one character, though O’Brien revealed that while his facial hair in “Twinless” is real, his mustache for his role as a young Dan Aykroyd in “Saturday Night” was fake. “They said...

The 2025 Sundance Film Festival hit Park City, Utah, once again this year, bringing out Hollywood A-listers to toast independent cinema, find a home for their latest passion projects and find a warm place to land in the otherwise chilly, mountainous city.
Kicking off Thursday and running through Feb. 2, the independent film festival has so far highlighted excellent new work from writer and director James Sweeney with “Twinless,” in which co-stars with Dylan O’Brien (pictured below); a riveting and emotionally knotty two-hander called “Jimpa,” starring John Lithgow as a late-blooming gay man and Olivia Colman as the daughter he left behind; Juliette Lewis as a chair in the body-swap satire “By Design”; and the new music documentary from Oscar winner Questlove, “Sly Lives! (aka The Burden of Black Genius).”

[Warning: This story contains mild spoilers for “Twinless,” which premiered on Thursday at Sundance Film Festival.]
Dylan O’Brien reveled in the process of playing dual roles in “Twinless,” a twisted comedic drama about two friends who meet in a support group for people who lost a twin. The “Maze Runner” and “Teen Wolf” star portrays identical brothers Rocky, who unexpectedly dies, and Roman, who is left to navigate the unbearable grief without his other half.
“The twins were so distinct on the page. I felt such a different connectivity to each of them. That came really naturally,” O’Brien says at the Variety Studio presented by Audible. “For me, it’s very physical. Once the process kicks into full gear with costumes, hair and makeup and the things that [director] James [Sweeney] and I discussed in terms of walk, talk and posture, that helps me.”

Review: Twinless is a bit of a throwback to an older kind of Sundance movie that I always dug – the comedy/drama related to family trauma. For years, these movies were a dime-a-dozen at the festival because they tended to be star-driven and often sold quickly to distributors. In recent years, the genre has started to dry up a bit, but it makes a welcome return to the fest with Twinless, which puts an interesting spin on the formula and goes places you won’t anticipate.
In it, Dylan O’Brien plays Roman, who’s recently lost his identical twin, Rocky.

After his twin brother dies, Roman (Dylan O’Brien), an irascible young man living in Portland, becomes emotionally unmoored. What is life without his other half? So far not great. The funeral for Rocky is an awkward affair. Mourners line up to offer Roman and his mother (Lauren Graham) condolences only to start crying the moment they come face to face with the living twin. He looks so much like his brother, they say, it’s weird and a little uncanny.
Premiering at Sundance, James Sweeney’s sly dark comedy Twinless might inspire similar sentiments. Lauren Graham touched down in Park City on Thursday to attend the Sundance Film Festival premiere of her new film, Twinless. The bromance dramedy stars Dylan O’Brien opposite the film’s writer-director James Sweeney in the story of two young men who meet in a twin bereavement support group and form an unlikely bond.
Graham plays the mother of O’Brien’s characters — the Maze Runner star has dual roles as the twins, one who dies unexpectedly and the other as he attempts to find peace after losing his other half — and while the role is small, the veteran actress couldn’t pass it up. “I don’t often get offered something a little darker and something that felt like a cool challenge,” Graham told The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet inside the Eccles Center Theatre. “It doesn’t need to be about me. I can just go do something because I like it.

In James Sweeney’s disarmingly funny second feature, “Twinless,” two men meet in an emotional support group for those who’ve lost an identical sibling. That seems as good a place as any to talk about codependency, although it’s the even more universal subject of loneliness that animates Sweeney’s insightful coping comedy, which premiered on opening night of the Sundance Film Festival. Sweeney recognizes that some of his laughs could be in poor taste, but isn’t shy about casting himself as a weirdo, when such discomfort can point the way to deeper truths.
“They say there’s nothing worse than losing a child, but maybe there is,” says Lauren Graham, who plays the mother of early-30s brothers Rocky and Roman, embodied by Dylan O’Brien in an impressive pair of performances so different, it’s hard to imagine the same actor creating them both. In writer, director and actor James Sweeney’s sophomore feature Twinless, he navigates loneliness, anxiety, depression and other common millennial pastimes through an equally comedic and heartfelt arc … complete with a few “Wtf” moments.
Dylan O’Brien stars as Roman, a young man grieving the loss of his late twin brother Rocky. At a twin bereavement support group, he meets Dennis (Sweeney), who’s struggling with his own loss. Missing their respective other halves, the two form a bromance while healing from their shared trauma, but a bizarre secret threatens their newfound friendship.
O’Brien and Sweeney have a comedic chemistry that cannot be denied, with the former alternating between the emotionally insecure and naive Roman, as well as his muscled, mustachioed, hunky twin Rocky, who evokes one too many encounters with “mean gays” who are just as misunderstood as the next.

Sundance is about the diamonds in the rough, and James Sweeney’s sophomore directing effort, Twinless, in which he stars opposite Dylan O’Brien won the Eccles audience over on night one of the Park City festival’s 2025 edition. The Republic Pictures title is up for sale.
Sweeney billed the movie as a bit “DePalma and grief drama,” the story about a young man Dennins (played by Sweeney) who loses his gay lover Rocky tragically (played by O’Brien). However, Rocky has a twin brother, Roman. Both Roman and Dennis find each other in a twin-loss bereavaement group, and a complex bromance sprouts.
The pic reps a return to Sundance for producer David Permut who sold the Jack Black comedy Polka King to Netflix, and for O’Brien who was here last year with Ponyboi. Sweeney gave props to Permut who discovered him at OutFest for his film Straight Up.

Hollywood is heading up the mountain for what’s possibly one of the final Sundance Film Festivals to be held in the posh ski-resort town of Park City. It’s a place that’s hosted its fair share of all-night bidding wars, where films ranging from “Reservoir Dogs” and “Napoleon Dynamite” to “Brooklyn” and “The Big Sick” landed massive deals before going on to box office, and in some cases, Oscar glory. But it’s also been the setting of some frenzied sales that didn’t always pay off, like “Happy, Texas”or “Blinded by the Light.”
Sundance has already announced the festival is considering decamping Utah for Ohio or Colorado in 2027. Even if it does stay in the state, the focus of the festival will shift to Salt Lake City, which is better positioned than Park City to host the crowds that the celebration of movies attracts. The best Mandy Moore movies and TV shows perfectly demonstrate how the singer-songwriter made the transition from parts in lighthearted teen rom-coms to leading grounded and emotional dramas. Born in New Hampshire in 1984, Mandy Moore first rose to fame as a pop singer with singles like 1999’s “Candy” from her debut album So Real. However, within a few years, she’d make the transition to acting, starting with a minor voice role in 2001’s Dr. Dolittle 2.
While appearing in a film alongside Eddie Murphy so early in her career was an achievement, it was her role as Lana in The Princess Diaries the same year that proved the pop star was also an incredibly talented actor. Before long, Mandy Moore was leading cases in films like 2002’s A Walk to Remember and 2003’s How to Deal. As the decades progressed, she began to take on more mature roles that further highlighted her range,...

Tubi, Fox’s free, advertising-supported streaming platform, has surpassed 97 million monthly active users.
That’s a jump from more than 78 million MAUs posted in mid-2024. The streaming platform, which launched in 2014, on Monday said it streamed over 10 billion streaming hours in calendar 2024.
The latest growth spurt at Tubi comes as it fends off competition in the Fast space from top rivals like Pluto TV and Roku Channel and the service has expanded its own content offerings to more than 275,000 library movies and TV episodes and over 300 Tubi Originals.
For comparison, Samsung TV Plus said in October that its Fast service now has 88 million monthly active users. The same month, Roku said the number of streaming households using its service reached 85.5 million, an increase of 2 million from the prior quarter.
The Tubi originals lineup includes the western thriller The Thicket, starring Peter Dinklage and Juliette Lewis, the workplace comedy The Z-Suite,...
