Nyta Dover(1927-1998)

Nyta Dover, known mainly in the United States for her numerous
recordings and television appearances, began her career in the Italian
Cinema in the 40s & 50s. She worked with famed Italian director 'Roberto Rossilini'
and Italian comic actor Toto on many of her films.
She was born Countess Antoinette de Chvalkovsky and was know as a cabaret performer in Europe and South America often called "La Contessa".
Her father was the foreign Minister of Czechoslovakia during the Nazi era. His story can be read in "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" by William L. Shirer. She spoke 10 languages fluently and was a frequent guest on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, Merv Griffin, & Mike Douglas Shows as a singer and outrageous personality. She worked with everyone from Louis Armstrong to Bob Hope. Frank Sinatra brought her to the United States in the mid 60s as an opening act but he insisted in changing her stage name from Dover to Doval as he said; "Dover sounds like a fish". She married many times, her last marriage was to singer David Scism.
