Series producer Chris Martin-Jones, who occasionally sits in the director.s chair, puts the show's success down to it being so relatable. The drama focuses on the Rafter family . a family, which, like any, faces pressures of life and love while dealing with serious social issues.

Packed to the Rafters will air a full season this year. Seven Network bosses have promised that the 2012 series of the Rebecca Gibney family drama will be a full 20 episodes, after they controversially cut 2011's season short to make way for new show Winners and Losers. According to the Herald Sun, new episodes of Packed to the Rafters will see former 24 star Cameron Daddo's return to Australian television, as he takes on the role of newspaper editor Adam Goodman. Other newcomers include Jacob Allen, who will play Dave's brother Matt Jennings, and Samantha Tolj as Sian Parry. It was revealed last year that former Neighbours actress Brooke Satchwell will join the series as Rafter Electrical employee (more)...

Cameron Daddo has revealed that Ed O'Neill helped him turn his life around. Ausfilm’s Tracey Vieira reports from Ausfilm Week – perhaps the agency’s hardest week ever.
Attracting offshore production has never been harder. The once booming industry that attracted large budget feature films, movies of the week and television series from the USA has taken so many hits that Australia is no longer one of the standard locations studios do budget comparisons for when looking at potential filming locations.
As a result, the infrastructure that is a legacy of such production, sits unused and crew are finding work outside the film industry or moving overseas to follow the work that is happening. While unemployment in Australia is generally at a low, in the film industry – it is at a high.
No one event has triggered this impact more than the strength of the Australian dollar against the Us currency. As the dollar has shot up to a 27-year high after fulltime...

Actor/producer Cameron Daddo believes it’s easier to raise up to $1m privately than going through Australia’s funding bodies.
“They will make us jump through hoops,” Daddo told Encore.
Talking about Passengers, the film he produced and funded privately through the relationships he has cultivated while working in the Us and Australia, Daddo said he preferred to bypass the traditional route of Australian filmmakers applying for government funding.
“It’s just a matter of how much work I want to put in as a producer to secure that funding. I felt it might be easier to raise the funds privately, when it’s a small amount such as $1m,” he said.
That been said, Daddo said he would have no hesitation in approaching the bodies to fund more expensive films, but added that he didn’t feel entitled to funding: “If I can get it, then that’s terrific,...

Mad Cow Pictures will begin production of the U$25m independent animated CGI film Trouble Down Under in Sydney next month, directed by the company’s founder Steve Trenbirth.
“It is still being considered whether this will be full 3D stereoscopic… currently plans are being formulated depending on cost. It will qualify for the Offset, with an Australian writer/producer/director, production company, pre and post-production, and the creation of a new a CGI studio,” Trenbirth told Encore.
For this project, Trenbirth (who directed Disney’s home entertainment releases The Lion King II and Jungle Book II) has partnered with producer Tony Findlay and California-based Fastlane Entertainment.
“I learned so much during my 15 years at Disney that it’s difficult to note any one particular influence. It’s from both a creative/artistic point of view, as well as the efficiencies required as part of the production process, and the...

Back in 1985 the film Clue, featuring a dynamo of a comedy cast with Tim Curry at its head, made a mockery of the murder mystery genre, and it did so expertly. 25 years later we’re still getting many films every year where the writer and director attempt to pull a fast one on the audience by throwing red herrings left and right. Some films have excellent hooks that you just never see coming, while others are as predictable as the Disney sequel that just reverses the plot points of the original.
Now, put Clue out of your mind and think back to the 1998 mystery thriller Wild Things, featuring Kevin Bacon, Neve Campbell, Denise Richards, Matt Dillon, and Bill Murray. Was it a masterpiece? No, but it had a nice little mystery wrapped up in a soft-core porn package. It was trashy, shallow, and relied heavily on its cast to carry it through its theatrical run.

Drifter was completed in 2007 by Epic Pictures, yet the picture is still looking for distribution even with an enticing trailer and coherent synopsis. Unfortunately for the characters in the film they are not very coherent and left to die in a wide desert landscape. Each person in the film has a surgical scar with no understanding of how they got into their present situation. The film's trailer shows some excellent cinematography and the desert landscapes just seem to equate to loneliness and isolation. These are two good elements to add to a thriller and those who like: "the Cube trilogy, Saw, [or] The Killing Room," might also like this film (Quiet). A distribution co' needs to pick up this film for fans pronto (more details below)!
The synopsis for Drifter here:
"Four characters wake in a desert, disoriented and lost with no clue where they are or how they got there.

Adelaide will be the first to view Michael Bond's Passengers, an independent feature film, shot in La and post-produced in Australia. Starring Cameron Daddo, who has been jobbing in La as an actor since the mid-‘90s, Passengers will showcase at The Adelaide Fringe Film Festival in two screenings scheduled for February 24 and 26. Made by a small team of ex-pat Aussie filmmakers who met in Los Angeles, Passengers stars Cameron Daddo as Tom, an aspiring screenwriter, finally getting a foothold in Hollywood with his writing partner, the comparatively affluent Roger (Hollywood character actor stalwart Bruce Davison from X-Men and Short Cuts amongst many many others).
