Scott McCann was born in Independence, Missouri. He attended Shawnee Mission West High School, from which he graduated in 1997. While in high school, Scott developed an interest in acting. He graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts-West in Los Angeles in 1999. Scott first performed stand-up at the HaHa Comedy Club in North Hollywood, California. In 2005, Scott moved back to Kansas City to co-host the Merrill in the Morning radio show on Lazer 105.9 in Lawrence, Kansas. In 2015, Scott moved to New York City to perform stand-up, develop a new television project and continue his training in comedy writing at the Upright Citizens Brigade and the American Comedy Institute.
