Kneecap is leading the charge at this year’s Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) awards, with 17 nominations across 12 categories.

Rich Peppiatt’s feature about the eponymous Irish-language Belfast hip hop act is on an awards season roll, having led the winners at the Bifas back in December with seven awards, as well as having been shortlisted at the Oscars in the international feature category, and being longlisted in seven categories at the Baftas (with nominations announced tomorrow).

Most fans remember the last time we saw Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as working royals during a Commonwealth Day Service in March 2020. While there was tension that day between the Sussexes and some of the prince’s family members, it was nothing compared to how the duke was treated when he returned to England with his wife after two years abroad.

Harry learned the true meaning of being a non-working royal at a major event he attended with the duchess when the wounds of their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey were still fresh in people’s minds. After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle chose to step down from royal duties and move to America, the public learned that the Duchess of Sussex and the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) never had a good relationship.

There’s the disputed story of who made who cry during a bridesmaid dress fitting, which Harry also wrote about in his memoir Spare. And what Meghan said in her Netflix docuseries about Kate not wanting to hug when they first met, and the duchess’s admission to Oprah Winfrey that photos of her and her sister-in-law laughing and smiling together were just for the cameras.

We never have and will never hear Kate’s side of the story, but there was a glimpse of how uncomfortable the princess felt to even be in the same place as Meghan when the Sussexes returned to the U.K. for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.

After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they were stepping down from their royal duties and moving to America in 2020, many wondered when they would return to the U.K. again. The Duke of Sussex made a solo trip back to his homeland for Prince Philip’s funeral in 2021. Then, in June 2022, the couple returned together during Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
