David Alexander Bonilla is an accomplished and award-winning Foley Mixer, Sound Editor, and Foley Artist, widely recognized for his outstanding contributions to animated television programs. A Los Angeles native, his journey in the entertainment industry commenced at the age of 13, showcasing his talents in commercials, music videos, and movies. In addition to his expertise in audio engineering, David is a skilled saxophonist, proficient in Alto, Tenor, and Baritone.
During his formative years, David's career extended beyond sound and music, with key roles in management and photography for local bands in his hometown of El Monte, California. His trajectory took a patriotic turn after high school when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Serving overseas in 2003 during Operation Iraqi/Enduring Freedom and Operation Noble Eagle, David's courage earned him accolades such as the Combat Action Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, and the Iraq Campaign Medal. His unit's exceptional service was also acknowledged with a Presidential Unit Citation.
Post-military service, David demonstrated his versatility as a Supply Chain Manager for industry giants like Raytheon and SolarCity/Tesla. However, his passion for sound and music remained steadfast. This passion led him to the Video Symphony Pro School of Media Production in Burbank, California, where he graduated with a certificate in Audio Engineering and Post Production Audio. Notably, David's professional journey includes a tenure at Seahorse Sound Recording Studio in Los Angeles, CA.
Beyond his remarkable career, David actively engages with various veteran organizations. He is a devoted member and volunteer for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), actively contributes to Veterans in Media & Entertainment (VME), and holds a lifetime membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the US (VFW), the American Legion of Hollywood Post 43, and the Marine Corps League in Canoga Park, CA. In recognition of his exceptional work, David was honored with a Peabody Award in 2020 for his contributions to the Apple+ animated program "Stillwater." Additionally, he received an Emmy Award in the same year for his outstanding work on the Disney show "Elena of Avalor."
David extends his support to Culinary Command in Syracuse, New York, where he pursued his passion for culinary arts. Outside the studio, his interests are as diverse as his career. An avid cook and food enthusiast, he enjoys learning the harmonica, attending live music shows, exploring new destinations, and cherishing moments with his wife Giovanna, friends, family, and his beloved dogs Penny and Rory.
