Producer Mairi Bett named Inspiration award winner.

Roy Button, Evp and MD at Warner Bros. Productions, is to receive the Production Guild Contribution to the Industry Award for his outstanding contribution to the development and sustainability of the UK film and TV industry.

The industry veteran will receive the honour at the Production Guild of Great Britain Awards, set to be held on Saturday (Sept 19) at The Grove, just outside of London.

The awards pay tribute to leading UK film and TV industry professionals working in production, locations, VFX, prod-production and assistant directing.

As head of physical production for Warner Bros. Productions, Button is responsible for all of the Us studio’s films based out of the UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

He has also been the driving force for the studio’s investment in Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, Europe’s largest studio and the production base for films including the Harry Potter franchise, [link...

Exec joins Liza Marshall and Kris Thykier’s growing company.

Archery Pictures, the TV and film outfit launched by Liza Marshall and Kris Thykier in October last year, has hired Alex Marshall as chief operating officer.

Marshall has been COO of Warp Films since 2008 and has eecutive produced many of their productions including Four Lions and TV spin-offs from This Is England.

Most recently he has been a producer on The Last Panthers, a six-part series for Sky Atlantic and Canal+, written by Jack Thorne.

Marshall has more than 15 years experience in film and television, specialising in multi-party project finance.

In a joint statement, Thykier and Marshall said “Alex is arriving at a key moment for us as we develop projects with some of the UK’s best talent - including Bill Nicholson, Peter Kosminsky, Neil Jordan, Adrian Hodges and Howard Overman. Alex’s deal making experience will be vital in pushing these projects forward.”

The pair will work across film and television with Thykier shuttering his PeaPie Films and moving both the staff and development slate over to Archery. He’s currently in post on Woman In Gold with Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds, is producing Kasper Barfoed’s Summer of ‘92, and exec producing John Wells’ Bradley Cooper-starrer Adam Jones for The Weinstein Company. Upcoming releases, Stephen Daldry’s Trash, and Asif Kapadia’s Ali & Nino will go out under the PeaPie banner.

Thykier’s Peapie to merge into new company Archery Pictures.

Former Scott Free London head Liza Marshall has joined forces with Kris Thykier in new film and TV production company, Archery Pictures.

Marshall who recently stepped down from her role as head of Scott Free London will become joint managing director of the new company with Thykier, who will shutter his company PeaPie Films, and move his staff and slate across to the new outfit.

Key executives at Archery Pictures will include Pip Williams, senior development and production executive, Mairi Bett, head of physical production, and development executive Kitty Kaletsky.

Marshall established Scott Free London four and half years ago and went on to produce films including Before I Go To Sleep starring Nicole Kidman, Welcome to the Punch starring James McAvoy and the upcoming Get Santa starring Jim Broadbent.

UK delegation includes producers, distributors, exhibitors, sellers and agents.

A delegation of UK film industry has arrived in Beijing, China, to meet with local industry as part of a BFI-led push for greater interaction between the two industries.

The visit, which lasts until Friday 18 April, is the first official UK film industry trade mission to China.
