Extremity is an upcoming horror film. From the disturbed minds of writers David Bond (Boogeyman: Reincarnation) and Scott Swan, the film was directed by Anthony Diblasi. In the film, a young woman goes on a psychological journey, in order to relieve herself of an earlier drama. Extremity will be released by Dread Central Presents, in early October. A trailer for Extremity was released this past month (found below). Now, the film's special features and other release details are available. Extremity features a well renowned cast. Sports Illustrated model Ashley Smith stars as Nell, one of the many masked villains. Long-time horror veteran J. Larose (Insidious) also stars, along with Ami Tomite (Meatball Machine) and Yoshihiro Nishimura (Tokyo Gore Police). This cast bring great performances to an uber-violent feature as seen in the film's official trailer. The release date for Extremity is scheduled for October 2nd. On this date, this indie horror feature will show.

Marx Brothers fans will be delighted, as TCM is presenting no less than 11 of their comedies, in addition to a brotherly reunion in the 1957 all-star fantasy The Story of Mankind. Non-Marx Brothers fans should be delighted as well – as long as they're fans of Kay Francis, Thelma Todd, Ann Miller, Lucille Ball, Eve Arden, Allan Jones, affectionate, long-tongued giraffes, and/or that great, scene-stealing dowager, Margaret Dumont. Right now, TCM is showing Robert Florey and Joseph Santley's The Cocoanuts (1929), an early talkie notable as the first movie featuring the four Marx Brothers – Groucho, Chico, Harpo, and Zeppo. This Spurlock-esque attempt to tear kids away from their iPads and get them to embrace nature is entertaining and wholly admirable
David Bond's engaging and thoroughly admirable film is a record of his attempt to reconnect his own children – and indeed all of Britain's children – with nature. Today's young people stay indoors, unlike their parents and grandparents, who as children loved to roam free. A new generation is addicted to iPads and consoles, getting obese and insidiously depressed in the process, and parents are letting it happen. And more than that, we increasingly assume the outdoors to be dangerous, pointless and irrelevant. "We think we've outgrown nature," says Bond, and wonders if the way is to promote nature as a brand, so the kids can "get" it and"choose" it; with boyish enthusiasm, he devises wacky ad strategies through billboards and social media to spread the good word, and...

Director David Bond does a disappearing act to see how easy it is to get lost in our surveillance-obsessed society
In this chillingly admonitory movie, director David Bond becomes the centre of his own documentary thriller by disappearing from his North London home for a month and seeing how easy it is for a pair of investigators to track his movements around Britain and Europe. His journey is interspersed by interviews with security experts, Stasi victims, civil rights lawyers and others concerned with the fact that Britain is (after China and Russia) the third most surveillance-ridden state in the world. The witnesses include Timothy Garton Ash, David Blunkett, Henry Porter and Helena Kennedy, and there's an edgy score by Michael Nyman.

David Bond's documentary about internet-age data trails is a nice idea, but fails to deliver anything substantial, says Andrew Pulver
A documentary that takes an enterprising approach to one of the big issues of our time – data privacy – but doesn't really nail it to the wall. Director David Bond does a Nick Broomfield, and positions himself squarely in the frame: distressed at the amount of personal information "out there", Bond aims to disappear for a month, evading a couple of private detectives he has set on his trail. While there's a certain amount of suspenseful will-they-get-him entertainment to be had, the level of analysis is relentlessly sophomoric; we learn nothing more than we already know about big-state information gathering and identity theft shenanigans. It doesn't help that Bond pads out his film with far too much hammy paranoid gibbering to camera, and tries to compensate for the eventless first...

No gimmicks here – just the chance to see some world-class Italian films from directors old and new. From veteran Enzo Castellari, director of the original Inglourious Basterds, comes Eagles Over London, the film that invented the "macaroni combat" genre by dazzlingly recreating the Battle Of Britain. There's also a four-film tribute to legendary actor Vittorio Gassman – Il Mattatore, as he's affectionately known – with screenings of the little-seen swashbuckler For Love And Gold and the original Scent Of A Woman, which won Gassman the Best Actor award in Cannes. More recent titles include director Federico Bondi's Mar Nero, a touching tale of the relationship between an elderly lady and her youthful carer, and Cinema Paradiso director Giuseppe Tornatore's dark, modern thriller The Unknown Woman. And, for the more traditional, there's a screening of everyone's favourite Italian classic, La Dolce Vita.

Less than a week worth of recovering from the Sundance Film Festival, and we are already looking forward to our next, big film fest coverage. That would be the South by Southwest Film Festival held annually in Austin, Texas. Last year, Scott and I brought you all kinds of coverage from the Lone Star State, and this year doesn’t look to be much different.
With that, the announcement came last night of the feature films that will be playing at the SXSW Film Festival. Previous announcement were already made about films like Cold Weather, Electra Luxx, Hubble 3D, Lemmy, Saturday Night, and The White Stripes: Under Great White Northern Lights making their debut. Kick-ass was recently announced as the opening night film, as well.
Among the other films being presented this year are some Sundance darlings, a few, highly anticipated premieres, and MacGruber.

Late yesterday the SXSW Fim Festival, which runs from March 12-20 in Austin, TX, announced the full lineup of films that will be screening at this year’s event. And baby, it’s quite a list. Mixing big name films with intimate indie gems, the sheer number of films and the vast array of talented filmmakers is sure to be a hit with attendees and critics alike.
This lineup includes premieres of studio films such as Universal’s MacGruber, Lionsgate’s teen superhero actioneer Kick-Ass and smaller films like Tim Blake Nelson’s Leaves of Grass, Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Micmacs, Michel Gondry’s The Thorn in the Heart and Steven Soderbergh’s And Everything Is Going Fine. With so many films to watch, it will be very difficult to find time to seem them all during the events nine days. But hell, we’re going to try.
