Taking a stroll down the memory lane, veteran actress Saira Banu on Sunday reminisced about the 1976 masala movie ‘Hera Pheri’, which has recently marked 47 years of its release, and shared her favourite scene from the flick.

Directed by Prakash Mehra, the movie stars Saira as Kiran, Amitabh Bachchan as Vijay, and Vinod Khanna as Ajay. It also features Asrani, P Jayaraj, Mac Mohan, Urmila Bhatt in pivotal roles.

Saira, who is an avid social media user, took to Instagram and shared a black and white still from the movie. She also attached two video clips from the movie.

Recalling about the joyful ‘Hera Pheri’ days with Big B and Vinod Khanna, Saira wrote: “It was a very happy and enjoyable time to have done “Hera Pheri”. Amitabh Bachchan and Vinod Khanna played crafty tricksters in the movie and I played a cunning female swindler.”

Singer Esha Gaur is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Vikram Bhatt’s 1920, which stars actress Avika Gor. She adds that it was her mother who discovered her singing talent when she was young and credits her mother for the way her career has shaped up.

Veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai recalls shooting for two popular tracks from his films including ‘Kalicharan’ starring Shatrughan Sinha, Reena Roy, and Anil Kapoor starrer ‘Ram Lakhan’.

Subhash Ghai is coming along with his daughter Meghna Ghai on the singing reality show ‘Indian Idol 13’. After listening to the contestant Debosmita Roy from Kolkata performing on the songs ‘Ja Re Ja O Harjaayi’, and ‘Tera Naam Liya’, he was quite impressed and appreciated her for her melodious rendition.

Moreover, he went on to talk about the track ‘Ja Re Ja O Harjaayi’ from the film ‘Kalicharan’ picturised on Reena Roy and Shatrughan Sinha and said that this was the first song he recorded from his debut film.

He shared: “This was the first song I recorded. I learned from Kalyan ji and Anand ji. When Lata ji heard this song, she asked for the director, looked at me and blessed me.”

The forthcoming Balaji Motion Pictures film Azhar has been directed by Tony D’Souza and will see actor Emraan Hashmi play the role of a cricketer who has been supposedly “framed” for match-fixing. After Dum Maaro Dum, Laila O Laila & Raat Akeli Hain, the hit track from Tridev, Oye Oye gets remixed for ‘Double Dhamaal’

Perhaps music directors Kalyanji-Anandji were present in the audience when singer Gloria Estefan performed Oye Oye for her 1987 hit Rhythm Is Gonna Get You. The tune was plagiarized by the musical duo in the 1989 film Tridev and remains a memorable hit till date.

Following the current trend of remaking old hits, makers of Double Dhamaal have bought the rights of Oye Oye from T-Series (No, not from Gloria Estafan, silly!) and have supposedly given it a new spin.

The remix has been done by music director Anand Raj Anand and interestingly enough, Ganesh Acharya who was a backing dancer in the original song (Again, not in the Gloria Estafan version) has choreographed the track.

In what way has the scenario as far as Music Direction is concerned, changed over the years?

Times have definitely changed over the years as far as the music scenario is concerned. Gone are those days when the producers used to inspire the music directors and help them in their creative inputs, unlike today when most of the producers interfere with their music directors, because in turn.
