One of the more unusual creative choices made for Roland Emmerich's 1998 film "Godzilla" was to make it into, essentially, a comedy. In its structure, "Godzilla" is a straight-up adventure blockbuster, replete with the trappings of city-sized destruction and international mayhem that Emmerich typically handles with such aplomb. In its tone, however, "Godzilla" is light and breezy, and focuses on the human character Nick Tatopoulos (Matthew Broderick) and his relationship with his ex-girlfriend, the aspiring reporter Audrey (Maria Pitillo). Audrey feels stymied in her career by a lascivious, egotistical boss Charles Caiman (Harry Shearer) who implies that he'll give her a promotion in exchange for sexual favors. One might also notice that Caiman's secretary is played by actress Nancy Cartwright.
Insulted and disgusted by Charles, Audrey instead takes to the streets of New York with her cameraman Animal (Hank Azaria) hoping to catch footage of the rampaging iguana monster stalking the streets.

**Massive spoilers for every Godzilla movie, with the exception of the 2014 reboot, and Mothra follow**
August 6th and 9th, 1945 forever changed the course of history. When the first nuclear bombs were dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, World War II ended, but a new fear was born that dominated the thoughts of all men, women, and children for decades to come. The Cold War, atomic bomb testing, a cartoon turtle telling children to “duck and cover”, and this new technology that had the actual potential to literally end the world changed the perception of what was scary. Art reflects life, so cinema began to capitalize on these fears. Gone were the days of creepy castles, cobwebs, bats, vampires, werewolves, and the other iconic images that ruled genre cinema in film’s earliest decades. Science fiction was larger than ever and giant ants, giant octopi, terror from beyond the stars, and...

I don't know if you ever saw the 1998 "Godzilla," but I'll be honest: I had no idea it was this insane a travesty. I knew it was no classic, but the "comic" choices in it were apparently abominations. In this "honest trailer" from Screen Junkies, we learn about Godzilla's halitosis, Matthew Broderick's knowledge of worms, the most embarrassing "French" characters you'll ever see, and the contrived exasperation of one Maria Pitillo.

Following the French atomic bomb tests in the South Pacific, an unknown creature is spotted passing westward through the Panama Canal. Scientist Niko Tatopolous is called in to investigate the matter, and he quickly arrives at the conclusion that a giant, irradiated lizard has been created by the explosions. Godzilla then makes its way north, landing at Manhattan to begin wreaking havoc in the big city. Even with the combined forces of the U.S. military to fight the monster, will it be enough to save the people of New York? Robert Downey Jr sparkles as the British comedy giant but Richard Attenborough's film feels somewhat dutiful around him
Director: Richard Attenborough
Entertainment grade: C+
History grade: B+
Charlie Chaplin was a British comedian who became one of the earliest and greatest stars of Hollywood cinema.
Childhood
The film begins with Chaplin's grim childhood in Victorian London, complete with an absentee father, a mentally ill mother (played by Geraldine Chaplin, the granddaughter of the real thing) and a stint in the workhouse. One night, when his mother sings in a music-hall show, her voice fails. Five-year-old Charlie is brought on to replace her. His precociously adorable performance brings the house down. Much though this rise-to-fame story sounds too good to be true, it is what Chaplin described in his autobiography.

We here at Zap2it noticed something a little strange in looking at the resume of TV legend James Burrows ("Taxi," "Cheers," "Friends") Wednesday morning (May 16) following the CBS upfronts announcement of their new 2012-13 lineup: "Partners," a new comedy for which Burrows directed the pilot, is already on his list of credentials -- a sitcom from 1995 also named "Partners."
And there are more similarities than just Burrows as a director. CBS describes "Partners" as "two life-long best friends and business partners whose 'bromance' is tested when one of them is engaged to be married." The lead characters (played by David Krumholtz and Michael Urie) are architects, and Krumholtz's fiancee is named Ali.
The 1995-96 comedy from Fox is described as "Best friends Bob and Owen work together as aspiring young architects on the rise, their relationship complicated by Owen's recent engagement to Alicia."
Weird, right? Disappointingly, co-creator David Kohan...

Whatever happened to Lisanne Falk and Kim Walker, the other two Heathers, who weren't Shannon Doherty in Heathers?
What ever happened to Joanne Whalley, Val Kilmer's co-star (and ex-wife) in Willow?
What ever happened to Vanity, the woman who starred opposite Carl Weathers in Action Jackson?
What ever happened to Bonnie Bedalia, John McClane's wife in Die Hard?
Oh, wait. This is what happened to her! She's on "Parenthood." Weird.
Whatever happened to Nancy Travis, the wife in So I Married an Axe Murder and the mom in the Three Men and a Baby movies?
Whatever happened to Julie Warner, the love interest in Doc Hollywood?
Whatever happened to the awesomeness that was Lori Petty, from Point Break and Tank Girl?
Whatever happened to Heather Langenkamp from NIghtmare on Elm Street?
I wonder whatever happened to Bridgette Wilson, from I Know What You Did Last Summer and the love interest in Billy Madison?...

I snapped this one up before Dustin could defile it with his ignorance and disrespect.
Because you must respect Godzilla, (Gojira to the purists among us). The classic Toho films should be a staple, a prerequisite, for all lovers of giant monsters. And frankly, anyone who doesn't love Godzilla is no friend of mine.
Now, of course, I'm not speaking of the retarderiffic Roland Emmerich film of 1998. While it had decent effects, it was one of the most agonizingly painful scripts ever written. Matthew Broderick and Maria Pitillo have no fucking place in a Godzilla movie. Though Jean Reno is welcome in anything.
In any event, Legendary Pictures is gearing up for a new big screen version of our favorite daikaijū. The atomic-breathed monster will be CGI, which makes me a wee bit twitchy, but for the moment, producer Brian Rodgers is saying the right things to try to put...

Comingsoon.net got their hands on this first teaser poster for the upcoming remake of “Godzilla”. Warner Bros. Pictures is looking at a 2012 release. The last botched attempt at a remake of “Godzilla” by director Roland Emmerich starred Matthew Broderick, Jean Reno, Maria Pitillo, Hank Azaria and Kevin Dunn. Synopsis: Japan is thrown into a panic after several ships explode and are sunk. At first the authorities think its either underwater mines or underwater volcanic activity. The authorities soon head to Odo Island, close to where several of the ships were sunk. One night, something comes onshore and destroys several houses and kills several people. A later expedition to [...]...

Legendary Pictures are in the process of resurrecting The most iconic movie monster of all time. With 55 years and 28 movies under his belt, Godzilla could roar once more!
Bloody Disgusting broke the news, in which they confirmed that Legendary Pictures are in early discussions. There are no further details at this point other than the film (provided the green light is given) is likely to be a reboot of the story.
Tristar famously attempted to westernise Godzilla (Gojira) in 1998 with their half-hearted disaster movie directed by Roland Emmerich and starring Matthew Broderick.
While the film was a financial success, taking $379,014,294 globally. However the film was panned by fans and critics alike and found itself the recipient of five Razzie nominations including Worst Picture, Worst Director and Worst Screenplay. It took home two overall for Maria Pitillo as Worst Supporting Actress and for the film as Worst Remake or Sequel.
