In the early nineties, Tom Cruise was at a crossroads in his career. As he approached thirty, the time was fast approaching when he could no longer play the kind of “cool young guy” role that had made his eighties movies such huge successes. Indeed, the formula was starting to wear thin, with Days of Thunder underperforming at the U.S. box office. His follow-up, Far and Away, performed even worse, landing with a thud at the North American box office, despite it re-teaming Cruise with his now wife Nicole Kidman, whose career was starting to take off. It was time for Cruise to tweak the kind of movies he was making, and sure enough, his next film, A Few Good Men, would kick off a streak of 5 back-to-back $100 million hits, which would make him the most bankable actor in the world.

However, most fans don’t know that back in 2009 the Footloose actor was struggling with one film. Bacon was given the opportunity to portray the role of a real-life U.S. Marine, Lt. Col Michael Strobl for the television movie Taking Chance. What he didn’t anticipate was how tough it was for him to play the critical role.

Spoopy Season is upon us, dear readers, and any cineaste worth their weight in bone matter is likely scouring the world's many streaming services looking for the best fright flicks available. Most casual horror fans may be content to idly re-watch well-trodden classics like "Halloween," while more enterprising gorehounds will be studiously studying the carefully curated films on Shudder. The jaded, more experienced fright fans, however, will require stronger coffee to get their fear fix, and those brave souls may dive face-first into the overstuffed trough of Night Flight or Eternal Family, looking for oddities that the average soul cannot stand. Are you going to watch a gentle film like "Hocus Pocus" this October, or are you the type to try out "Bloody Muscle Bodybuilder in Hell?"
We can say for sure that actor Kevin Bacon, a great actor with impeccable taste, is an aficionado of the genre and likes...

As we’re well into October, I’m sure plenty of you have already watched more than a few horror movies (as if you need an excuse), but it’s always fun to see what other folks recommend for the spooky season. Kevin Bacon, who I believe has appeared in a few horror movies, took to Instagram to share a list of twenty of his personal favourites.
Audition Don’t Look Now One Cut of the Dead Dawn of the Dead (1978) Shaun of the Dead 28 Days Later Get Out A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night Let The Right One In X Pearl MaXXXine The Witch The Love Witch The Blair Witch Project The Descent Slither Midsommar Martyrs Hereditary Smile Stir of Echoes
A quality list, and as you can see, Bacon appears in a few of them. Bacon’s most recent horror movie was MaXXXine, which appears on the list alongside X and Pearl.

Everyone’s got horror on the mind as we inch closer to Halloween, and that list of “everyone” most definitely includes Kevin Bacon, who has damn sure made his mark on the horror genre over the years. From appearing in the original Friday the 13th to starring in this year’s MaXXXine, Bacon’s horror pedigree is strong – and he’s a genre fan through and through.
Bacon notes in one of the bonus features for MaXXXine, “I’m a huge horror film fan.” And he’s building on that statement over on Twitter today, sharing some of his personal favorites.
“I love October because it’s all about apples and leaves changing and pumpkins, but it’s also about horror movies,” he begins the video. “So here are 20 of my favorite horror movies in no particular order.” The list naturally includes some films the Bacon family has appeared in,...

Odd though it may seem, part of the reason "Jurassic Park" endures as a blockbuster classic is surely due to its horror elements. Like director Steven Spielberg's "Jaws," the 1993 movie gets downright hair-raising at times — an experience made all the more visceral by the fact there are two young children enduring the ordeal.
Alongside Drs. Alan Grant, Ian Malcolm, and Ellie Sattler, John Hammond's (Richard Attenborough) grandchildren find themselves stranded on Isla Nubar after the power goes down and several ravenous dinos are set free. Tim and Lex Murphy (Joseph Mazzello and Ariana Richards) provided a proxy for kids everywhere, putting young imaginations straight into the heart of the film and making the terrifying set-pieces all the more effective as a result.
Since the 1993 classic debuted, the "Jurassic Park" franchise has continued, remaining a popular saga even some 30 years after Spielberg's original bowed. However, while several of...

Horror movies might be known more for death scenes than anything else. For that reason, pinning down the best horror movie death should be challenging — but it isn’t. One obscure, eerie Yuletide scene from the 1970s takes the cake.
The best horror movie death involves a bizarre weapon
When people think of the great murder set pieces, they often think of slasher sequences like the shower scene from Psycho and the time Kevin Bacon’s throat got slit in Friday the 13th. One of the more underappreciated slashers is 1974’s Black Christmas. It’s not forgotten, but it never inspired the sort of fandom as A Nightmare on Elm Street or Child’s Play. Regardless, Black Christmas has some incredible tension and tantalizing unanswered questions.
The premise revolves around an unseen, unknown assailant who breaks into a sorority house during the Christmas season and starts living in the attic. One by one,...

Sorry, Ripley fans. This Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 2 review is going to be hard on him.
He spent most of the hour trying to sacrifice his career to protect Scully, only to berate Asher when she refused.
Yes, Scully was dying, but how did Ripley going to jail in his place help anything? This nonsense was more proof that this story needs to go away already.

Ripley’s career was in danger, but Ripley didn’t seem to care very much about that, which made it hard for me to care, either.
This whole Pawel story has been weak. Ripley was going to fight because the guy was a compulsive liar who got away with too much crap, then settled as soon as the going got tough.

Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon have a great working relationship after working on three films in the Bourne franchise. After their success with The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, Greengrass intended to utilize their Bourne fame to make an action thriller based on the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Green Zone was a film that Greengrass made out of rage, after being betrayed by the government.

He shared that he listened to former Prime Minister Tony Blair’s speech and believed the cause to be right. However, Greengrass realized along with others that the war was not what it seemed to be.

How I Caught My Killer returns for its second season, diving into ten new murder cases and shining a light on the all too-human victims at the center of each tragedy. Following the show’s successful first outing, viewers see families and communities left reeling in the wake of shocking crimes. But unlike many true crime programs that relish grisly details, this one focuses squarely on celebrating short lives tragically cut short.
Each episode introduces another real-life story, beginning with an uplifting look at the person the victim was—their passions, their dreams, and the impressions they left on those close to them. We meet fascinating individuals from all walks, including curious-minded Sasha Krause, spirited twins Jholie and Jenna Moussa, and stylist Kevin Bacon, living their own intriguing journeys before fate abruptly intervened.
Through interviews with surviving loved ones and investigators working tirelessly for answers, the painful circumstances of each death come to light.

"Where do they come from?" "I vote for outer space. No way these are local boys." Time for another Classic Trailer Rewatch session. This time we're featuring the original trailers for the 1990 horror comedy monster movie classic Tremors. It first opened in January 1990 and made a fair amount at the box office, but only became a real hit later on home video. Tremors eventually inspired a whole bunch of sequels - Tremors 2: Aftershocks in 1996 all the way through Tremors 5 in 2015 and a few direct-to-video sequels recently, too. This first movie is still the Og best. A group of people ina small isolated desert town defend themselves against strange underground creatures which are killing them one by one. When Elliot Stabler returned as part of the Organized Crime Unit, it seemed like the perfect set-up for him and Chicago Pd‘s Hank Voight to work together on a case, and the latest news about Amanda Rollins makes an even stronger case for the return of crossovers between the two franchises.
