Horror cinema in Spain took his first steps at early 20th century, being prolific in the 20s. However, Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) and establishment of General Franco's dictatorship after it stopped almost completely any horror movie production. In the 60s years horror movies came back shyly (during the hard years of dictatorship), and in the 70s, after Franco's death and the missing of Franquism, horror movies were partially declined in favor of El Destape ("The Uncovering"), advantaging the newly recovered freedom and the restorarion of democracy, to watch in cinema beauty ladies dressed in sexy clothes (and without clothes too). But in the 80s, and specially from the 90s ahead to the 21st century, new generations of filmmakers gave horror the place it deserved from the beginning. This is a list of horror movies made in Spain (it includes co-productions with another countries and genres), ordered by release date on Spain or one of the countries involved with the production.
