- DirectorJames GunnStarsChris PrattVin DieselBradley CooperA group of intergalactic criminals must pull together to stop a fanatical warrior with plans to purge the universe. The music, the atmosphere, the humor. Everything falls into place with the Best Movie of the Year. Like with Captain America I sat at the edge of my seat for the entire movie with a big smile on my face, the second time I saw it in a packed theater in Canada it was even better. it just makes me happy, and that's the essence of film. The characters, oh man.. they are all perfectly casted. You know a movie is perfect when ALL the characters are Awesome!
Seen it in Cinema's Twice, in The Netherlands and in Canada. - DirectorAlejandro G. IñárrituStarsMichael KeatonZach GalifianakisEdward NortonA washed-up superhero actor attempts to revive his fading career by writing, directing, and starring in a Broadway production.A movie about a crazy world full of crazy people DONE RIGHT. This is the best form of entertainment without space and flashy lights! All the references to Hollywood, the drums in the soundtrack, the humor. everything is complete. this movie INSPIRED me, by every sense of the word.
- DirectorMatt ReevesStarsGary OldmanKeri RussellAndy SerkisThe fragile peace between apes and humans is threatened as mistrust and betrayal threaten to plunge both tribes into a war for dominance over the Earth. The best thing about it are obviously the apes, they are all amazing and a lot of fun to watch. Most inventive movie of the year for me, and incredibly interesting. Don't forget to watch it with subtitles.
DO watch Rise of the Planet before this one, it's also very good, but Dawn of the Planet is 10x as awesome. - DirectorAnthony RussoJoe RussoStarsChris EvansSamuel L. JacksonScarlett JohanssonAs Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world, he teams up with a fellow Avenger and S.H.I.E.L.D agent, Black Widow, to battle a new threat from history: an assassin known as the Winter Soldier.Seen it in Cinema's
I was smiling at the edge of my seat through this entire movie, it's just that well made. - DirectorPhil LordChristopher MillerStarsChris PrattWill FerrellElizabeth BanksAn ordinary LEGO construction worker, thought to be the prophesied as "special", is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the LEGO universe into eternal stasis.Very creative and beautifully animated piece of art. definitely one of the best movies of the year!
Did NOT expect this one to be THIS good. - DirectorChad StahelskiStarsKeanu ReevesMichael NyqvistAlfie AllenAn ex-hitman comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters who killed his dog and stole his car. This movie is superbly shot and edited. Reeves is amazing in this film. If I wasn't such a movie snob this could probably be my favorite movie of the year
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsMatthew McConaugheyAnne HathawayJessica ChastainWhen Earth becomes uninhabitable in the future, a farmer and ex-NASA pilot, Joseph Cooper, is tasked to pilot a spacecraft, along with a team of researchers, to find a new planet for humans.Interstellar is a beautiful movie with a gaping plothole that kind of ruins the movie
- DirectorPaul Thomas AndersonStarsJoaquin PhoenixJosh BrolinOwen WilsonIn 1970, drug-fueled Los Angeles private investigator Larry "Doc" Sportello investigates the disappearance of a former girlfriend. This is a brilliant movie to get blazed by I imagine
- DirectorBryan SingerStarsPatrick StewartIan McKellenHugh JackmanThe X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate effort to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants.I got what I expected, a well made X-men movie that was well structured and had lots of awesome and new characters. The bad guy (Peter Dinklage) disappointed me a bit, just as with destiny, he just seems to do his best work in Game of Thrones. The rest of the cast is amazing, they all get a considerable amount of screen time, some more than others but it works fine. could have been a bit better though, not every character got as awesome a scene as Quicksilver, and Wolverine got WAY too much screen time, again..
- DirectorWes AndersonStarsRalph FiennesF. Murray AbrahamMathieu AmalricA writer encounters the owner of an aging high-class hotel, who tells him of his early years serving as a lobby boy in the hotel's glorious years under an exceptional concierge.Such a beautiful way of telling a story. It's fantastically shot, acted and casted and above all, extremely hilarious.
This may actually be the Best Shot Movie of the Year
and the Smartest Comedy of the Year - DirectorDamien ChazelleStarsMiles TellerJ.K. SimmonsMelissa BenoistA promising young drummer enrolls at a cut-throat music conservatory where his dreams of greatness are mentored by an instructor who will stop at nothing to realize a student's potential.
- DirectorDon HallChris WilliamsStarsRyan PotterScott AdsitJamie ChungA special bond develops between plus-sized inflatable robot Baymax and prodigy Hiro Hamada, who together team up with a group of friends to form a band of high-tech heroes.there is a really strong sense of adventure in this movie and it's awesome
- DirectorDan GilroyStarsJake GyllenhaalRene RussoBill PaxtonWhen Louis Bloom, a con man desperate for work, muscles into the world of L.A. crime journalism, he blurs the line between observer and participant to become the star of his own story.A brilliant movie made with a tight budget.
- DirectorDean DeBloisStarsJay BaruchelCate BlanchettGerard ButlerWhen Hiccup and Toothless discover an ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace.Improves upon the original
- DirectorPhil LordChristopher MillerStarsChanning TatumJonah HillIce CubeAfter making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt and Jenko when they go deep undercover at a local college.Seen this one in the Cinema.
I thought it was a great movie, just a few problems. The big problem with this movie is the repeated jokes and maybe a bit too much gay jokes for it to be still funny in the end. Take for example the Scene in the library near the end with the gangsters, this is the point where the gay jokes end being funny, maybe long before. Also closer near the end with the fight between Jonah Hill and the girl the same joke gets repeated over and over again and it wasn't funny to begin with.
Repetitive Writing is LAZY - DirectorMatthew VaughnStarsColin FirthTaron EgertonSamuel L. JacksonA spy organisation recruits a promising street kid into the agency's training program, while a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.Very well made, but not perfect!
- DirectorEvan GoldbergSeth RogenStarsJames FrancoSeth RogenRandall ParkDave Skylark and his producer Aaron Rapaport run the celebrity tabloid show "Skylark Tonight". When they land an interview with a surprise fan, North Korean dictator Jong-Un Kim, they are recruited by the CIA to assassinate him.Didn't proceed the classic Pineapple Express for me, but it was still funny and got a lot of attention.
- DirectorBong Joon HoStarsChris EvansJamie BellTilda SwintonIn a future where a failed climate change experiment has killed all life except for the survivors who boarded the Snowpiercer (a train that travels around the globe), a new class system emerges. This is one you should watch, but probably won't.
This is that typical kind of movie that, if you tell your friends about it they'd just not be interested.
Personally I love the characters and the details. The movie also has a great cast. - DirectorTerry GilliamStarsChristoph WaltzLucas HedgesMélanie ThierryA hugely talented but socially isolated computer operator is tasked by Management to prove the Zero Theorem: that the universe ends as nothing, rendering life meaningless. But meaning is what he already craves.A low budget indie movie that looks like a blockbuster, it also has a very interesting story
- DirectorDoug LimanStarsTom CruiseEmily BluntBill PaxtonA soldier fighting aliens gets to relive the same day over and over again, the day restarting every time he dies.Very well made movie, story could have gone a lot further. The movie was marketed with a completely different name, 'live, die, repeat' which was a total screwup if you ask me. The result was a box office bomb.
- DirectorFrancis LawrenceStarsJennifer LawrenceJosh HutchersonLiam HemsworthKatniss Everdeen is in District 13 after she shatters the games forever. Under the leadership of President Coin and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta and a nation moved by her courage.A decent movie, but still just the build up. I saw this one in a cinema, but it was slightly underwhelming. Still a lot better than Divergent, which is a piece of *beep*
- DirectorGareth EdwardsStarsAaron Taylor-JohnsonElizabeth OlsenBryan CranstonThe world is beset by the appearance of monstrous creatures, but one of them may be the only one who can save humanity.Seen this one in the Cinema.
It cuts away from the monster fights at some very frustrating moments, that ruined it for me. - DirectorNicholas StollerStarsSeth RogenRose ByrneZac EfronAfter they are forced to live next to a fraternity house, a couple with a newborn baby do whatever they can to take them down.Bad neighbours is surprisingly good!
- DirectorJames BobinStarsRicky GervaisTy BurrellTina FeyWhile on a grand world tour, The Muppets find themselves wrapped into an European jewel-heist caper headed by a Kermit the Frog look-alike and his dastardly sidekick.Fun kids movie, there's some stuff for adults in there too.
- DirectorLuc BessonStarsScarlett JohanssonMorgan FreemanChoi Min-sikA woman, accidentally caught in a dark deal, turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.I don't believe what this movie is trying to sell, but it has Scarlett Johansson so that's something.
