- The German Comedy Award is not restricted to TV or movie comedy, but also includes live stand-up comedy, on stage and radio comedy. However, it has its primary focus on comedy performances which are broadcasted on TV.
- For 1997 and 1998 there were no different categories and only one award in total was given per year. Since 1999 there are different categories and the award show is broadcasted on TV.
