Rana Vikram Singh (Amrish Puri) has two sons, police officer Rajesh (Feroz Khan) and fun-loving playboy Amar (Anil Kapoor). Rajesh has gone through the traumatic experience of losing the girl he loved (Sridevi), when she succumbed to drug addiction. He vows to fight this menace. An underworld kingpin Raja (Raza Murad) murders Rana's old friend, and his daughter Reshma (Dimple) takes shelter in Rana's house. Amar and Reshma fall in love, but evil Raja pursues her. Meanwhile, Rajesh is on the trail of the drug cartel that victimized his girlfriend.

Two friends live happily until misunderstandings arise between them.

Childhood friends became enemies when one Mahendra Ashwini Kumar grows up to be Additional Police Commissioner and the other Raj Pratap Singhal becomes a smuggler. Mahendra have two sons who are also police officers namely Rajesh and Brajesh while on the other hand Singhal is also christened with two sons Vishal who helps develop his dad's business and Vicky who takes up employment in a garage. When Brajesh is killed by one of Mahendra's henchman; Rajesh swears to avenge the death of his brother even if having to take the law into his own hands. After Brajesh's death he leaves behind his widowed wife, Kaushalya and a young daughter, Meghna. On a chance encounter with both Meghna and Vicky both fall in love and the Kumars approve of Vicky as there future son in law unaware of his family background. And then Mahendra is given the post as police Commissioner; unable to bear this Singhal sets up another of his henchman to have Mahendra killed. To escape from the police and public officials Singhal and his family migrates to Dubai further escalating the blood shed between both the families that might continue for years.

Wealthy, powerful and influential Seth Dharamdas leads a financially secure life in a palatial mansion. But Seth Dharamdas does have a number of skeletons in his closet, and a parallel life as a gangster. The only person Dharamdas hates and fears is none other than his very own son, Ranbir, who has sworn that he will never compromise with his father's dark career, and threatens to expose him. Dharamdas has never conceded surrender or defeat at the hands of any mortal, and will never even consider to do so - even if this means the death of Ranbir. Don, a wanted criminal, dies in a police chase. DSP D'Silva is the only one who knows about his death, and to get hold of the gang he trains Don-lookalike Vijay. But Vijay faces danger from the police and from within the gang.

Jai Kumar is a wealthy industrialist, and lives in a palatial house with his wife: Sheena, son: Vishal, and daughter: Sapna. He has made arrangements for Sapna to get married to Vishal, who is the son of his partner in a business venture. But Sapna is in love with Suraj Singh, who plays in an orchestra, and is the son of an army captain, Veer Bahadur Singh. When Sapna introduces her dad to Suraj, he is rude to Suraj, and upset that Sapna has spoiled his plans for him. Jai does not speak out openly against Suraj when he is with Sapna, for fear of antagonizing her, but discusses this issue with Vishal, and together they concoct a scheme that will separate Sapna and Suraj forever.

While in Germany, gorgeous looking Rita, who belongs to a gang of thieves, cons a jeweler into parting with a very expensive necklace, and is on the run from the police. She hitches a ride from ace Grand Prix racer, Ram Khanna, and plants the necklace on his person. He later graciously returns the necklace to her, and she in turns it in to her gang-leader. When the gang-leader has the necklace appraised it turns out to be a fake, and Rita is now on the run from her own gang. She again takes shelter with Ram, tells him the truth and that her real name is Meena. Ram wins the Grand Prix, and both return to India. Upon their entry at the airport, they are searched, and Ram is found to be in possession of diamonds hidden in medicinal capsules. He is immediately arrested, tried in Court, and sentenced to several years in prison. Years later he is released, and finds Meena awaiting. Both get married and decide to settle down and live life honestly. But trouble comes knocking on their door again - this time it's Ram's brother, Harnam, who wants Ram to join him in smuggling. Ram, initially refuses, but when Meena is abducted, he relents and joins his brother in a career of crime - a change that will have disastrous results for Meena and himself.

After the passing away of his wife, Sudha, widower Rajat Sharma looks after their only child, Munna, as well as his younger college-going brother, Kundan. He works as a Customs Officer at Bombay Airport and is known for his honesty. He meets with an attractive Air India Airhostess, Roopa, and both fall in love with each other. Roopa and Rajat expect to marry soon, and Roopa moves in with them. Munna and Kundan take an instant liking to her and call her "Parirani". Rajat and his boss, Satyam Malhotra, are concerned about the smuggling of diamonds from Singapore, but despite of their best efforts have been unable to apprehend the smugglers. Little do they know that the diamonds are being smuggled by none other than Roopa herself, taking advantage of her friendship with Rajat. And assisting her are Kundan, her Singapore based sister's Seema's husband, Gupta, and a reputed businessman, Dinesh Patel, who claims to be a friend of Rajat. When Rajat finds a diamond in his apartment, he starts to suspect Roopa, when she lands, he searches her and finds diamonds in two dolls. The question remains, what will Rajat do now - turn a nelson's eye or turn in his sweetheart to the authorities - unknowingly opening a Pandora's box that may well result in the arrest of Gupta, Dinesh, and Kundan as well.
