Third-seeded Hudson scored three goals in each half to defeat No. 6 Superior in a Division 1 girls soccer regional semifinal Tuesday night in Hudson.

The Raiders advanced to face No. 7 seed Wisconsin Rapids, who upset No. 2 Wausau West Tuesday night, in a regional final Saturday at 1 p.m. in Hudson.

Hudson struck just over three minutes into Tuesday night’s match when Natalie Ramthun made a run down the left side and her cross went off the Spartan goalie’ hands and right to Olivia Pettey who deposited it into the open net.

Maggie McConnell sent a high, arcing shot over the Spartan keeper’s head from 42 yards out in the 16th minute to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead, before Hannah Lundeen jumped on a pass from Maggie Salama for a goal eight minutes later to make it a 3-0 game at the break.

The Raiders scored two goals in less than a minute midway through the second half to pull away. Nele Kauer put a shot inside the far post off a pass from Stubbendick at the 62:45 mark, before Stubbednick caught the Spartan keeper out of position and chipped a shot over her head from 30 yards out to make it a 5-0 game.

Matea Langenohl scored off a cross from Ava Brown with just over two minutes remaining to make the final 6-0.

The winner of Saturday’s regional final between Hudson and Wisconsin Rapids will advance to the sectional semifinal round against either top-seeded D.C. Everest or No. 4 Eau Claire Memorial Thursday, June 6, at the home of the highest remaining seed.
