River Falls’ Tattersall Distilling, located at 1777 Paulson Road, will host their inaugural “Maplefest” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17.

Jon Kreidler, the co-founder and chief officer of Tattersall, and his team were on the lookout for an event during the winter to spring seasonal transition. That, along with their history of including maple syrup in their work, Kriedler put two and two together and created “Maplefest.”

The family-friendly event will include maple syrup tastings and educational sessions with Jim Adamski, a fourth-generation maple producer of Adamski’s Sugar Bush in Antigo, Wis., live music, maple infused food and beverages and more.

“We want to show people how to do it [tap trees and process syrup],” Kreidler said. “It’s a lot harder than you think.”

According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, sap may flow as early as January or late as March. Due to the warmer temperatures, there is discussion that tapping season may be well on its way.

Kreidler is looking forward to celebrating this syrup and hopes that attendees can best utilize their backyard resources.
