Post American Eatery won the 2024 Hudson Hot Air Affair Beverage Crawl for “Getting Toasted,” a drink with vodka-infused marshmallows, graham cracker crumbs, chocolate shavings and hot chocolate.

Those trying drinks during the crawl — which lasted from Feb. 2 to Feb. 4 and was named Sippin' with the Hotties — voted after scanning a QR code on a brochure at any of the participating establishments. How did Post get the most votes? Manager Amy Salama thinks a lot had to do with the drink's name.

“I think it was just a fun all-around name and presentation, and I think that’s what people really loved about it,” Salama said. “And it is really delicious, too.”

Last year, Post also participated in the Hot Air Affair’s beverage crawl, which had a bloody mary theme, so the restaurant stuck to its everyday recipe for that drink. This year, Post went with something not on their menu previously to fulfill a hot drink theme.

They could have submitted their Irish coffee, for example, but they wanted to be more creative, Salama said. Post’s Louise Swenka created the winning drink.

“You can’t really go wrong with hot cocoa,” Swenka said during the weekend of the beverage crawl. “You can add whatever you want to it, right?”

Currently, the restaurant doesn’t have the drink on its official menu. But Salama said that hasn’t stopped people from ordering it.

“It’s one of those that, yeah, I think we will put it on the menu,” Salama said. “Because it did get so much buzz.”

Bennett's Chop & Rail House, Big Guy’s BBQ Roadhouse, Black Rooster Bistro, Buddy’s Bakery, Dick’s Bar and Grill, Grand Fête, Key’s Café, Lucky Guys Distilling, Smokey Treats BBQ, The Cellars Wines & Spirits and Ziggy’s also participated in the event. Post can be found at 225 Locust St.
