Aimbridge Hospitality named William Davenport CFO, the company announced Tuesday.
Starting July 8, Davenport will oversee Aimbridge’s financial management, including accounting, financial planning and analysis, compliance, tax, treasury and procurement, leveraging “more than three decades of strategic experience across high growth businesses in hospitality, restaurants, franchising and private equity,” according to Aimbridge.
Davenport joins the hospitality management company from restaurant chain Velvet Taco, where he was also CFO. Prior to Velvet Taco, he was CFO of Topgolf, where for more than nine years, he helped grow the concept from nine venues to more than 80 in the U.S.
Davenport will report to CEO Craig Smith, who joined the company in February from Marriott International.
In a statement, Smith said Davenport’s “track record of establishing dynamic infrastructures, capabilities, and systems will enhance our business model by creating speed, efficiencies, and sustained property performance, leading to the outsized results for our owners and partners.”
The CFO role is the latest seat to undergo a shakeup at Aimbridge, which is restructuring to streamline its U.S. operations.
In February, the company created a new owner relations team under Aly El-Bassuni, who assumed the newly created role of divisional president of owners relations. Aimbridge also created two new divisions for its U.S. operations: Aimbridge Select, focusing on select service, economy and extended stay properties, and Aimbridge Full Service, dedicated to full-service, luxury and resort properties. The divisions are led by Simon Mendy and Rob Smith, respectively.
In April, Greg Moundas returned to the chief legal officer role after a stint away from Aimbridge. And last month, Aimbridge announced former Marriott exec Eric Jacobs would take over as chief global growth officer, succeeding Allison Reid.
Davenport has also held senior finance leadership roles at Haggar Clothing Co, Neiman Marcus Group and Brinker International Inc., according to Aimbridge. He began his career at KPMG Peat Marwick.
