Throne of Lies is book 0.5 in the Legacy of Lies series by Tara Leigh. This is the prequel, the beginning of Tripp and Jolie’s story, both the beautiful beginning to it, and the heartbreaking ending.
Jolie Chapman and Tripp Montgomery’s fathers were partners in a Wall Street Investment Firm. Tripp is nineteen and in his second year of college. Jolie is seventeen, nearly eighteen, and a senior in high school. Both were raised in the lap of luxury, never wanting for anything. It is Jolie’s coming out, her debutante ball and her escort is Tripp, only she doesn’t even know him, barely remembers him. But when he walks in, they are drawn together like the forces of a magnet. Their romance is fast and they both fall hard for each other.
“Jolie Chapman was like the last present you open on Christmas morning, the one that makes all the others pale in comparison. She was a girl worth waiting for, a gift I wanted to take my time opening, enjoying the crackle of the paper, the pull of the ribbon.”
Their short time together was like a fairy tale. Until it all fell apart. The sins of their fathers snatched away their happiness in the blink of an eye.
Holy Wow! This is short but packs a huge punch. Tara’s writing is so fantastic. I was instantly swept away in this. I can’t wait to see what comes next for Tripp and Jolie in book one, Legacy of Lies.

Throne of Lies is the prologue to book 1. It takes us ten years back in time when seventeen-year old heiress and student Jolie Chapman is introduced to the son of her father’s business partner, heir, university student and her date for an upcoming Debutant ball, Remington Montgomery III aka Tripp.
Jolie is swept off her feet and Tripp is smitten. An undeniable connection and attraction as these teenagers prepare for their date. All while their family legacy crumbles around them.
Told from dual POVs, it’s a star-crossed love, heart-breakingly doomed before it begun. To get their full story tune into book 1, Legacy of Lies for the conclusion of their saga.

In this prequel to legacy of lies we have a story of young love and passion. Tripp and jolie are paired together for the debutante ball by their fathers who are partners in business. Tripp and jolie have known each for years ,but haven't spent much time together. When these two meet again theirs a instant attraction and what follows is a awakening of two young lovers,but as they are falling in love it comes to light that their fathers are involved in a ponzi scheme and the first casualty is Tripp and jolie being pulled apart and the end of this new found love. I love what I've read so far,well written and a great storyline as well. 💗😉

Wow this was fantastic, I love the beginning and I can't wait to start Legacy of Lies.Throne of Lies was captivating,fast paced and intense.This prequel was a perfect start for Tripp and Jolie, we learn how they know each other and how everything started between them.They have a great connection and omg the ending make me to crave for more!!

This is the beginning of Tripp and Jolie’s story. Theirs was a whirlwind romance, a love to rival all fairy tale courtships, but what was their highest of highs fast became one of their lowest lows, and over before it ever really began, now a forbidden romance, all in the name of greed and theft, the sins of their fathers may destroy what has only just begun...
It all starts at seventeen year old Jolie’s debutante ball one where she doesn't really want to attend but has no choice over the matter, to make matters worse is that she barely knows her escort Remington Montgomery aka Tripp as it's been years since she last saw him. She doubts weither she'd even be able to recognise him in a crowd. But as soon as he walked through that door like a moth to flame she was inexplicably drawn to him.
One look cast an invisible tether between us, a lure that hooked over my collarbone with an almost audible clank and entirely eliminated my reluctance to be here.
This was a perfect start to what I think will be a perfect series. I went into this with no preconceived perceptions, admittedly I one clicked because of all the glowing reviews this received and of course that cover ticks the eye candy stash for us cover hoes..
Straight away I got sucked into the story, an old feel to an updated story, I couldn't put it down.. Definitely hanging out for the next book!! A perfect way to spent a perfect lazy Sunday!!

Considering the fact that this book is a prequel, it is more than enough to draw your attention.. it captivates the readers into wanting more and more.
Throne of Lies is bloody glorious and there isn't a moment where your mind strays away from the story of these two beautiful creatures: A prodigal son and a park avenue princess.
I would never miss an opportunity to recommend Tara Leigh's books to a book dragon. Her books are always always pure gold.

This is the perfect setup for the story to come! Young love, high society, ultra posh and rich lifestyles. And the writing matches the subject matter expertly. Tara Leigh's writing is gorgeous. Her prose is pretty, concise, and engaging. It's almost as decadent as the subject matter.
I was immediately pulled into the story and loved the setup and details that hinted at what was to come. This novella will certainly whet the appetite and leave the readers longing for more.

This is a short novella that sets the scene ten years before Legacy of Lies. It's the introduction to the whirlwind romance between Jolie and Tripp, and their ultimate fall. Having met as teenagers, both of them are on top of the world. With their fathers business partners in a successful business, they don't want for much. But then one after another, the bricks of their foundation as they know it begin to crumble. Until it implodes in the revelation of a lie that destroys everything; their young love and naivety included.
While I enjoyed this novella, I struggled to connect to the romance between Jolie and Tripp. I couldn't help but feel that I'm being told of their connection rather than truly experiencing it along with them. I struggled to really feel anything as their love connection felt rushed and somewhat unbelievable to me. I couldn't help but wish there was slightly more meat on the bones of this romance. What ultimately had me turning the pages was the unraveling of the lies and my eagerness to see how it all ends. I also struggled to connect to both Jolie and Tripp on an individual level. I would have loved stronger character development in addition to the development of their relationship.
But all that aside, it still managed to hook me with that explosive ending and eager to jump right into the next book to see how it all comes together.

Within in the novella, Tara Leigh delivers the intense emotions of teens falling in love, of two families torn apart in a bitter war to salvage their reputations, and the aftermath of what is left of the once pure and forever love of these the two teens. It is angst, drama, and betrayal at its best.
Tripp and Jolie are the quintessential wealthy youth in NYC. Think Gossip Girl. They are both from elite families and both have expectations and obligations thrust upon them. These obligations put them on each other's path, and what is at first obligation turns into young love at the quickest of speeds. At their height of their love, though, it all falls apart. Seeing these two fall apart over something that isn't their fault is enough is painful because these two aren't two blame. What is the pure and innocent love is corrupted by greed. Their story will already have readers cheering for their reunion from the very beginning of Legacy of Lies.

I love discovering new authors, especially when my introduction to them is fantastic. Tara Leigh did not disappoint!
Throne of Lies, the prequel to Legacy of Lies introduces us to Jolie Chapman and Remington Montgomery III. We’re thrown into an expansive and expensive world filled with glamour and money, deceit and downfalls, elite society and luxury lifestyles.
Jolie and Tripp’s relationship begins with passion, though ends in tragedy when their father’s transgressions become public scandal, resulting in the destruction of their family’s empires.
Despite the short length, this novella provides a fascinating and brilliant introduction into what I anticipate to be a fantastic series.
I’m in love with Jolie and Tripp. Enamoured by this glamorous lifestyle they’ve both been surrounded by. It almost reminds me of Gossip Girl, without the teenage angst and petty drama of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. They're such an adorable couple wrapped up in an innocent bubble of teenage love.
I cannot wait to continue being swept away by this author's writing and this couple's journey.

Oh wow! I don’t even know where to begin. This book just sucks you right in and leaves you wanting more! Throne of Lies is the Prequel to Legacy of Lies. It must be read first as it does end in a cliffhanger. Throne of Lies takes place 10 years before Legacy of Lies and while in this novella, the two main characters are college age, I wouldn’t categorize this as a YA/NA novella.
Remington “Tripp” Montgomery III and Jolie Chapman are thrown together at a debutant ball. Their parents are business partners running a successful Wall Street firm. The two didn’t want to attend the ball, but they immediately hit it off and quickly fall into a romantic relationship. They are a sweet couple and are so good together, but things beyond their control come crashing down. For such a short book, this Throne of Lies is packed with young love, turmoil, and lies.
Throne of Lies is yet another book from this author that I love. Tara Leigh is a talented writer that creates wonderful characters and good storylines. I am looking forward to the next book.

GAH! Throne of Lies was absolutely amazing. I love how the author set up this series in this prequel where we see the start of Tripp and Jolie's romantic relationship - their initial butterflies, stirrings of love and connection. It was a breath of fresh air as I loved seeing them so innocently happy. But when drama unfolds and their fathers' empires crashes, it is pure exploding fireworks. It's too bad that their relationship is caught in the crossfire.
I loved the story and the characters and the delicious taste we received in Throne of Liesand seriously can't wait to dive deep into Legacy of Lies. Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula

Wow! I am beyond blown away with Tara Leigh’s storytelling abilities. Throne of Lies is a prequel to Legacy of Lies… it’s a novella—a quick read—but one that will leave you absolutely DYING to get your hands on Legacy of Lies! I considered myself to be truly blessed to get the chance to read an advanced reader copy of the book for my blog and didn’t have to wait between the releases to read these books. Honestly, having read them, it would have been straight up torture to wait for the release of Legacy of Lies.
I loved everything about Throne of Lies… and I do not usually like novellas. Yet, the story, the characters—Tripp and Jolie—and the emotions of the story were outstanding. Tara Leigh is a gifted storyteller and her skills as an author are apparent even in the 100(apx) pages that is Throne of Lies. The quality of the writing is beautiful, and I read both books back to back and straight through the night because I was so captivated. There were a few key differences between Throne of Lies and Legacy of Lies. Throne of Lies is a sexy, slow burn young adult romance. It takes place 10 years before Legacy of Lies which is a second chance, enemies-to-lovers romance. The angst of Throne of Lies is lighter but the emotions are still strong and well developed between Tripp and Jolie. Also, while you can read Legacy of Lies as a standalone, Throne of Lies is not a standalone - the conclusion to Tripp and Jolie's romance requires you to read Legacy as well. I loved everything about Throne of Lies… and I do not usually like novellas. Yet, the story, the characters—Tripp and Jolie—and the emotions of the story were outstanding. Tara Leigh is a gifted storyteller and her skills as an author are apparent even in the 100(apx) pages that is Throne of Lies. The quality of the writing is beautiful, and I read both books back to back and straight through the night because I was so captivated. There were a few key differences between Throne of Lies and Legacy of Lies. Throne of Lies is a sexy, slow burn young adult romance. It takes place 10 years before Legacy of Lies which is a second chance, enemies-to-lovers romance. The angst of Throne of Lies is lighter but the emotions are still strong and well developed between Tripp and Jolie. Also, while you can read Legacy of Lies as a standalone, Throne of Lies is not a standalone - the conclusion to Tripp and Jolie's romance requires you to read Legacy as well. Also, reading Throne of Lies and Legacy of Lies as a duet will only heighten your enjoyment of the storyline. So, no, you don’t have to read them both. Young lovers caught in a web of family and corporate corruption. The prequel was short and to the point with the introduction of characters. Ending on an abrupt and tragic cliffhanger, I'm quickly downloading the next installment to find out the rest of the story.

Oh my gosh! Throne of Lies is a quick shot to the heart comparable to a roller coaster. It starts the story of Tripp and Jolie when they are pushed together by their high society families. They quickly fall for each other and the story ends on a huge cliffhanger that leads into the next book, Legacy of Lies. The ending of this book had me wanting to throw my Kindle across the room. I couldn't get to Legacy of Lies fast enough. Tara Leigh has started an amazing story full of heat and angst and I need more!

This is how you write a prequel.
Before I write my review, I need to take a quick moment to dish out some honesty. I was fortunate enough to beta read a very early version of Legacy of Lies – so early, in fact, it went by a different name. However, being given this chance to see the early form of this book in no way influenced my ratings and reviews of Throne of Lies and Legacy of Lies. My ratings and views of the final product are completely independent of what I got to see in the early stages of creation.
With that out of the way, onto the good stuff.
Since my first Tara Leigh book, I was sucked in. Each book blows my mind in a new way, each book causes me to fall ever deep in love with the author’s work, and Throne of Lies is no different. In truth, I’m not the biggest lover of these little prequel stories. They’re fun, but I rarely find myself satisfied with them. I appreciate the little insights they give, but I much prefer to dive straight into the full-length stories.
Throne of Lies is different.
Throne of Lies was a wonderful prequel, providing lots of information that will be vital throughout Legacy of Lies. It gives us the chance to fall in love with the characters, it dishes out plenty of drama, and it more than gets you ready for Legacy of Lies. It offers so much in a short space, ensuring you’ll be more than willing to dive into more of the story. You’ll have so many questions, there will be so many things you’ll want to see more of, that you’ll jump straight into Legacy of Lies.
If you’re thinking about reading Legacy of Lies – which you certainly should be – I cannot stress how worth it the prequel is. Throne of Lies will have you ready to devour Legacy of Lies, preparing you for the wonderful story to come.

Tripp and Jolie are the kids of high society Bankers. They live blessed lives. Tripp is Jolies date to a debutante ball. As neither of them really want to do these things, they click. Tripp and Jolie had met before, but it had been years ago. There was a huge Debutante Ball coming up and Jolie's dad told her she was to go and he even picked out her date, the prodigal son of her fathers business partner. Poor Jolie was sooo pissed, she couldn't believe her dad was making her do this and with someone she wasn't even interested in! But, that was until her eyes landed on Remington Montgomery again. I really enjoyed this prologue/prequel to Legacy of Lies! I loved how it combined the glitz and glam of the debutantes and New York elite with the ugly corruption of some powerful families. It was really fascinating and something I'm hoping to read more of in the future!
It was nice to get to see our two MCs fall in love. Their romance was sweet and exciting. Gah, young love, huh, it's always so much fun 😍😏.
I haven't yet read Legacy of Lies, but I'm definitely looking forward to it! Now that our lovebirds have been ripped apart by scandal, I need to know how they'll EVER manage to get out of this mess!

Throne Of Lies is a nice prequel that gives you the basic knowledge you need to have to understand the main characters better in Legacy Of Lies. It basically shows the beginning and the end of Tripp and Jolie. You get a first impression what the emotions will be like in the main story and what caused the rift.
However I was a little disappointed in this novella. I felt distant to the characters, like I was only the observer to the things that happened. I didn't feel the chemistry nor the attraction. Knowing what Tara is usually capable to create, I expected a flash of sparks, blinding me.
"She was sunshine and sin all wrapped up in one perfect package."
And I question a little the whole time-framing. I think it's not really believable to fall in that kind of love that binds Tripp and Jolie within two to three months while being a teen. And I missed a lot more of their interaction: like what made them really fall for each other except the "love at first sight" thing.
Maybe it's just me. Just because I didn't feel it, it doesn't mean you won't. So if you'd like to read Legacy Of Lies, I highly recommend starting with this prequel, as it gives you a great insight of what happened to Tripp and Jolie 10 years before.
