After her ex trashes her reputation in front of the media and it quickly goes viral, Nicole vows she’ll never get involved with another hockey player. Too bad her job with the Minneapolis Caribou puts her in contact with sexy hockey players on a daily basis, including the newly traded center, Logan Heller.Logan’s pretty sure Nicole is the perfect woman for him and he’s determined to have her—in and out of bed. Nicole is equally determined to never date another hockey player. But Logan has a one-man advantage…he knows what she really wants.

Pretty good story with plenty of heat....but jeez, the heroine (Nicole) nearly ruined it for me. I just didn't care for how she treated the hero (Logan) for most of the story, basically using him for sex and not taking his deeper feelings into consideration. She was too much in her head and cared more about what people would think of her dating yet another hockey player ( she had a bit of a reputation due to a loud mouthed ex) and didn't see how her actions hurt Logan (A stand up guy with a few insecurities about his self worth) until it was almost too late. Better late than never I guess. The story ended rather abruptly too ---I could've used a few more chapters . 3 1/2 stars
I absolutely loved this third book of Kelly's hockey series (not sequel, series). I promised myself going into this book that I would not like Logan more than Jason from Breakaway, but I think I do!
Logan has it all! He's, of course, hot, he's charming, and he's a gentleman. And he has just enough need for control in the bedroom to make him irresistible. (For those of you who have read the SERIES (not sequel), he's sort of combination of Jason and Tag) He does have a little baggage. Even though he is the third of four sons, he suffers slightly from being the "middle child". He is an excellent hockey player, but seems to live in the shadows of his two older brothers. Getting traded, among other events throughout the story, causes him stress in his personal need to impress his parents (who would never judge him IMO).
Nicole is much like Logan. She lives in shadows of famous parents and brother; never quite feeling "good enough". She meets Logan after a disastrous event with one of the other players. Swearing off hockey players forever ultimately causes her and Logan a lot of stress. Neither can deny the attraction to one another. Logan has to work hard to prove to her that not all hockey players are jerks and it doesn't matter what people think of her as long as she knows the truth.
This story was wonderful and I absolutely fell in love with Logan. I highly recommend this book as well as the others in this series (not sequel). I recommend reading them in order, but it is not necessary; this book could easily stand alone.
I wanted to rate this higher, I really did. The hockey action was fab, the hero Logan was divine - but the heroine Nicole took 90% of the book to pull the hypothetical blindfold off her bloody eyes.
She had been burned by her jerk-off hockey player ex who mouthed off about her on national (or really, international) TV. He commented that because Nicole had dated a few hockey players in her time, she must be working her way through his team and basically referred to her as a hockey whore. I get that that is super shitty, but didn't think that Logan deserved to be constantly pushed away because of it. He had already proven to her how decent and caring a person he was, so it just annoyed me that it continued on for as long as it did.
As usual though, I loved the Jamieson naughtiness of this one. Nice and hot.
I skipped one!! I hate it when a series is a series but GR doesn't show it as one, lol. Oh well... I read Faceoff, which I enjoyed, and I enjoyed this one as well.
In this one, we have the third brother of a talented hockey family. Logan's just been traded to Minnesota from California and he's not too happy about it. He has self-esteem issues, since both of his older brothers are extremely talented hockey players. (Not that he's even second string!) Now he feels like maybe he wasn't important to California for them to have traded him. Plus, he really liked his beach view from his condo. But he's going to try to make the best of it, and he immediately meets Nicole, also from a hockey family. She played hockey when she was younger, but there aren't many opportunities for women in hockey, so she ended up working communications for the Caribou in Minnesota.
And just before Logan comes into the picture, Nicole has sworn off dating hockey players after her latest boyfriend basically trashed her on national television. But there's instant chemistry. Nicole tries very hard to fight it. Logan doesn't realize how tough she's going to be to crack, but he does it. And then she spurns him again. He knows, deep down, that there's something there, so he doesn't give up. But she keeps pushing him away.
I wanted to smack Nicole so many times, but at the same time, I could sympathize with her. I understand why she wanted to stay away from hockey players, but considering her job, considering her knowledge and love of the sport, she was going to be in contact with them every day. There was bound to be chemistry with one of them at some point! And she kept cutting Logan down. I felt so bad for him. It's like he was good enough to fuck, but not good enough for anybody to know about it -- messing with his already sensitive ego.
But I loved Logan. I loved that he could be so commanding, yet tender, and always concerned with whether Nicole was enjoying what he was doing. The fact that they were equally matched in just about every way was great, and the fact that he saw her as all woman and beautiful did a lot toward lifting Nicole's reservations about herself. And she had many, knowing she couldn't play hockey, but her supermodel mom telling her she wasn't model material either. Thanks, Mom!
Anyway, Logan and Nicole sizzled. Very steamy sex scenes and a very satisfying end to the story. I can't remember whether there are more brothers, but I think not. I still hope we get more from this family, since there wasn't an epilogue to wrap everything up.
So I'm going to go back to Breakaway to see what happened with Jase, because there was a bit about his conflict in this one (though no true resolution, which gives me hope for another one).
Wanted to go read some hockey romance written in or before 2015 and Jamieson was suggested. The plot line of Nicole being slut-shamed by her ex on national television didn’t sit well with me. No idea how it would be dealt with these days, but the fact that she blamed herself, was thinking she was going to be fired or fall on her sword and quit made me angry — at the situation and her. He wasn’t punished enough for bringing the drama to the team or treating her like garbage to national press…I dunno. I just hope it would be handled differently these days.
Then on top of that, Logan gets traded in days later and basically falls in love with her the first time he meets her. He’s kind of pushy about it, being totally ignorant of how a relationship with him would affect her, especially on the heels of what just happened with her ex who is also a player on the team. She treated him petty unkindly, but again, instalove has its consequences. Lots of the obstacles could’ve been handled differently/better without the instalove. And then when he inevitably gets hurt and she loses her shit and blurts out ILY while he’s in the medical suite getting looked at? Come on, girl! Have a little more self-respect! Make him work for it.
There is some what I like to call bdsm-lite — some bondage and light spanking. Pretty vanilla when compared to some others I’ve read. There was mention of a suspension bar and cuffs and maybe some power exchange play, but it was never realized in the text. I mean, from start to finish of the book they’d only known each other maybe 6 weeks.
I really like those Heller brothers. Though they seem to be dominant in bed (at least Tag and Logan were) they are also loving and caring with their heroines. My main problem in this book was Nicole. She quickly got on my nerves with her constant refusal to be seen in public with Logan. I understood why she didn't want to date another hockey player but why did she keep sleeping with him knowing that he wanted more and that every new refusal hurt him...
I will definitely read Jase's story but not right now because I have just read three hot books in a row by Kelly Jamieson and that's more than enough for now.
This review was originally posted on my review blog Deanna Reads Books I definitely think this book might be my favorite of the Heller Brothers series?? Maybe. I saw someone mention that Logan is kind of like a mix between Tag and Jace, and I think that's fair. Logan likes to be in control during sex, and it was fun to see him find his match in Nicole!
The biggest conflict in this book is that Nicole has been trashed by her ex-boyfriend and she decides she wants to stay away from hockey players. It makes a lot of sense, especially since she works for the team and her ex doing that caused her a lot of problems. I so understood why she was so afraid she was going to lose her career because of who she dated. It's not okay, but as women, we kind of know these things can happen.
I think this is the first heroine from Jamieson that also played hockey? I'm not sure, and don't quote me on that, but that was fun to see. It was fun to see Logan wanting to get her back on the ice too. I really liked him, but I also felt for him because he wanted to be a couple and she didn't really want to be. or she was just really cautious because of her career. It annoyed me at times, but I also understood it at the same time.
Don't worry, there is a little angst, but they have an HEA! I really liked these two together. They "got" each other and were kind of the perfect match for each other.
Nicole Lambert, raised by a legend hockey player and a super model mother. She has been told she isn’t beautiful enough to be a model and a girl playing hockey is fine for the backyard. Nicole works for an NHL team in the communications department. She loves her job and she loves hockey. Most of the men she dates are hockey people. She unfortunately dates and dumps a player who trashes her reputation to the media. No more hockey players for her.
Logan, third brother of the Heller brothers hockey phenomenon. Tough to follow in Tag and Jase’s foot steps. He very unexpectedly gets traded. Life seems a bit crappy now. He is staying w an old hockey buddy and meets Nicole right when he gets to town. Logan sees Nicole the way no one has before.
These two have some emotional issues that need dealing with, but great sex is easier than dealing with emotions. The scenes boarder on whispers of a Dom relationship. Not even close to a Fifty Shades. Both Nicole and Logan need to be loved for who they are before they can tackle w where they come from. It’s time to stop pretending and be true to thy self. Love Logan’s mom.
Still waiting on paternity from Jace. Book one in this series.
Nicole Lambert, daughter of a hockey legend and supermodel mum, lives and breathes hockey. She has a great job with the Minneapolic Caribou but now wonders about her life choices after breakup with her last boyfriend, who just so happened to be yet another hockey player. Sometimes a girl has a type and they just happen to be hockey players.
Swearing off hockey players, enter Logan Heller into Nicole's life when he is traded to the Caribou from California. He's bound and determined to pursue her even with her fighting her feelings for him.
Have to love the chase and Logan's determination, all while trying to keep his cool, inspire and mentor a new team that needs his leadership and skills, and adjust to a new city after spending the majority of his professional career with another team.
Shocked that I continued on with this series after not really caring for the last book? Well, let me just tell you that there was a preview for this book in the last one that hooked me. I was super interested in the story, so I instantly decided to read it. (But can I point out that I hate this cover? It's just kind of... Ick.) I wasn't that surprised that I liked this book more than the last -- but I did find it odd that all of these Heller boys seem to like the same thing.
The biggest disappointment with this book is that there was no suspension scene!!! All those comments, and we never got one... *sigh*
Other than that, I loved Logan and Nicole's story. I loved how Logan didn't care about Nicole's history, and how he gave her the space needed to heal and truly move on, and to accept that he really didn't care, and that he wanted and loved her for her, and not for her family, or for anything else.
Quick read. Easily a stand alone as I read this one first before realizing it was a series. Logan is totally swoon worthy and a stand up man. Some insecurities with his family standing but a classy guy all the way. Nicole is struggling w/ the fallout over a crazy ex hockey player that she treats Logan quite poorly for most of the book.
I should give up on this series. In theory Nicole being slut shamed by a brash bully should make us sympathetic to her plight. That’s only true until she meets Logan, then her attitude is selfish and hypocritical. I did the audiobook. The narrator didn’t help, the way bits of Canadian French were dropped in only made Nicole more annoying. Logan was okay enough to hold it a solid 3⭐️
This book exceeded my expectation. The previous two was kinda meh but this one I actually enjoyed it. The hockey action was excellent! And the hero was well-balanced. The conflicts resolved too easily but understandable for a 150+ page romance novel.
I felt so bad for her and them in general that her shitty past relationships had to ruin things for her but they were fucking adorable and I'm so happy for them that thing ended up alright in the end
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Logan did not want to be traded. Nicole did not want to date another hockey player. Sometimes what you want isn’t what you need, though. So glad these two found each other!
Great book. Logan and Nicole are a hot couple. It was nice that he pursued her and not only for one reason. The only think I didn't like as much in this book was all the french swearing
The 25th was a stressful day for me. I knew I had a full schedule, and only small amounts of free time.
So let me tell you a secret: The second my first brake started I catapulted myself to the nearest computer and downloaded this book. The moment it was safely stashed on my ebook reader, I found a nice spot in the library, laid back, relaxed, heaved a content sight, and started the ride.
This author has a fun and fresh way with which she writes sports romance. It actually reminds me of the way Erin McCarthy does her work. Yes, she wrote a NASCAR romance series, and never touched hokey, but the character development traits are the same. They are not one dimensional and the plots move fast but in a distinct way. Even the themes and plots that other author hashed out already can be new and different when coming from the fertile mind of Mrs. Jamieson (think book 2 of the series).
Like the two previous books I liked the overall feel of the romance, I connected to the hero and heroine –ultimately wanting them to have a hard earned HEA. There is just one problem…again, similarly to McCarthy, Kelley Jamieson connects her heroes and heroines in an intimate way from book to book. We see glimpses of the life of the people from previous books. We are supposed to enjoy them. Sadly, this author is not in the same seat with Erin on this.
Tag and Kyla even thou mentioned, take a not-so-good back seat tot the So, I am totally offing stars because of this whole thing. It is just making me unable to concentrate on the main stories and leaves me feeling cheated.
Do I still think you should all read books written by this author? Most certainly! You are in for a treat! This series, thou? If you are not sucked in up to this point, then by all means, leave it be until all the books are done. That is just my friendly advice. :)
I'm really invested in these characters now! What way to continue following this group of brothers. This series gets better with each book released. Really glad I picked it up
Since she was born, Nicole’s life has been surrounded by hockey and all that that entails since her dad is a legend in the industry. Having devoted much of her youth to the sport as a spectator, fan, and player, it seems natural for Nicole to aspire to a hockey career. Nicole lands a job with a team that puts her behind the scenes and she is at once thrilled to be doing something she loves and disappointed that her parents aren’t supportive. Her personal life doesn’t take much of a detour when it comes to relationships as she has dated a few of the sports’ players. However, she manages to dump the wrong kind of player who was determined to see her humiliated on the big screen. As the scandal travels around the sports world, Nicole vows never to date another hockey player again. Unfortunately, she may have spoke too soon.
Logan is determined to make the best out of the situation he now finds himself in since being traded by his former team. He lives well, but has yet to find something worth living for other than his hockey career. Now he’s become part of a team on a losing streak and finds himself wildly attracted to their publications and communications assistant. As Logan gets to know the team and Nicole, a new determination sets in and while he may not know where his efforts will lead, Logan knows that he is the one-man advantage for both.
A whirlwind sports romance with a slightly dark erotic edge. The characters may have been in instant lust for each other, but their challenge is to overcome Nicole’s fears of becoming a hockey whore. Although the relationship development felt a bit lacking and the ending was wrapped up a little too quickly, I enjoyed this uncomplicated story for its quick pacing and erotic delivery. Erotic romance readers who don’t mind a bit of bondage, anal play, and spanking will very much enjoy this story.
