Things have not been going well for Jennifer Lopez lately…at least when it comes to her music career. The singer has been tumbling recently, as it seems that everything connected to her once-stellar role as a singer has not been panning out the way she’s hoped.
While there’s so much “negativity” around—according to the star herself—there is also a sign that not everything is bad as far as the musician and her music career are concerned. Lopez still has a catalog filled with smashes that the public loves, and this week, one of them returns and becomes a hit all over again.
Lopez’s “On the Floor” reappears on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart this week. The tune is present once more on the list of the bestselling tracks in the country that Billboard classifies as dance or electronic in style.
This frame, “On the Floor” sits at No. 10 on the tally. Like several other purchase-focused tallies, the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart was shortened recently to only include 10 spaces, so if any track appears on the roster, it’s automatically a top 10 smash.
“On the Floor” is one of Lopez’s four top 10 hits on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart. It’s also her only No. 1, as it reached the summit for the first time in February 2020.
So far, “On the Floor” is easily Lopez’s biggest and most successful hit on the tally. It’s not only her sole champion, but it’s also spent 72 frames somewhere on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart. That’s more than twice as long as her runner-up, “Dance Again,” which has thus far managed 35 stints on the list.
“On the Floor,” which also credits Pitbull as a featured star, is one of three tracks present on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart that weren’t there last week. John Summit and Hayla’s “Shiver” reappears at No. 6—its peak—in its fourth frame on the list. Sigala and Bryn Christopher’s years-old dance smash “Sweet Lovin’” debuts at No. 8.
Lopez’s music career has been hurting lately, so any news—like an old hit mounting a small comeback—is good news. The singer’s latest album This Is Me…Now disappointed when it debuted at No. 38 on the Billboard 200 and failed to produce any Hot 100 hits earlier this year. She also recently had to cancel her tour, likely due to poor ticket sales.
