Engels Kayako will probably never leave me alone. I wanted to find out if the American remake is really better because my memories and experiences when I was about thirteen suggest that I really didn't have a peaceful night afterwards. That probably won't be the case today. Whenever Kayako appeared on the scene, goosebumps were guaranteed, but the surrounding story, sauce, and craftsmanship are really very poor, and the plot is quite indigestible compared to the US version, so it's not such a full-fledged horror experience. The runtime is very pleasant in this respect and despite the fact that the haunting is quite high-quality and excessively disturbing, it doesn't make up for the rest. I might watch the sequel sometime when I feel like it and compare it. ()

Engels If the proportion between scenes that made me tremble in fear and utterly pointless moments was at least 1, I would be thrilled. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. The Curse does have moments that made me feel quite scared, but they are few and far between, I reckon they cover less than ten percent of the runtime. Besides, it doesn’t feel very good technically speaking, even the filler isn’t nice to look at. If it was longer, it would have been very boring, as it is, it’s a decent ghost story, but there are many better ones. ()
