Plots(1)
Smallville tells the tale of a teenage Clark Kent in the days before he was Superman. It is the town where he came from where very strange things started happening with his arrival in a spaceship in the midst of a meteor storm of green rocks. Clark must deal with a variety of individuals given powers by the green rocks, keep his powers a secret, cope with his friendship with a young Lex Luthor, and balance the two girls in his life, Chloe and Lana. I'm on the 9th season and I'm obviously into it. I wouldn't have watched it otherwise. Interesting characters, always new more or less original plots. A great relaxing series that I've gotten into. It's not 100% now that Lana's gone, but new characters are making up for her. ()
I'd appreciate the Smallville series in retrospect, but I don't have two lives to make time for ten years of teen series. However, from Season 11 onwards, the story continues in the pages of the comics and I appreciated that. Sometimes I just trace back to various guest stars, like the legendary Lynda Carter in Season 6 or Serinda Swan in seasons 8-10 when she first played Zatanna Zatara in the live-action series. ()
For those who grew up on TV series like Beverly Hills, enjoyed Buffy, and have seen movies about Superman, Smallville could theoretically be a good choice. It's a sort of American pop culture mishmash, cooking up a mix of the aforementioned ingredients. It's a youth series with mysterious elements and essential props typical of an American town, featuring a local football team and its fans, loving parents, first loves, etc. Naturally, it features attractive actresses and likable young men. Overall impression: 15%. ()
