Someone wrote here that this film is not recommended for getting acquainted with Tarkovsky, but rather as a culmination of his work. Well, I wish I had read that before. Thanks to this film, I probably found out that I don't have a soul, poetic sensitivity, and I will probably start to hate poetic films. There was just too much lyricism for me. I went to see "Mirror" as part of the festival head over heels and didn't find out anything more. I didn't realize it would consist of absolutely unrelated scenes and basically I just felt like I was in a museum of something I don't understand. Yes, I know that all those looking for a story in this are Neanderthals, but for God's sake... it was such a bore! KVIFF 2017 ()
Yet another one of those films that I'll have to watch again someday to fully appreciate its greatness because so far I haven't fully grasped it. Tarkovsky tried a slightly different approach, it's even more philosophical and abstract, and that just didn't sit well with me. The imagery is intriguing, as is the blending of techniques, but I only see it as interesting. ()
