English I have to occasionally catch up on Czechoslovak cinema from the past, and that’s how I came across Ikaros' Fall. To be honest, you won’t find many films where the main theme is alcohol and its ability to dismantle a human personality, as well as the surroundings of that person. Personally, I consider it extremely important to talk about this sensitive topic openly. Vladimír Menšík is perfect. He immersed himself fully into his role as an addict in such a way that I bought it hook, line, and sinker. But the others are also great (his wife Hlaváčová, son Hanzlík, brother-in-law Řanda). Perhaps it ultimately lacks that more cinematic look, as the TV production slightly degrades it. Nevertheless, it is still an above-average piece of Czechoslovak cinematic history. I give it 7/10. English Among all the almost identical performances, which took place in the same setting and featured the same actors, Ikaros' Fall still stands out. In the good tradition of films like Today for the Last Time, František Filip built upon the eternal theme of alcohol intoxication. His adaptation is certainly not bad. ()
