A family film of a tried-and-true mold, during which Poledouris intensifies the squeezing of tear ducts, with the animal hero overshadowing his child partner in likability, and those familiar with the fate of the actor with the large dorsal fin might think that a based on true events “Save Keiko!” would be a much more interesting endeavor. I never realized how similar the top part of a killer whale’s head is to Giger’s most famous work. (09/05/2022)

A film that really plays a lot on the viewer's emotions, but surprisingly successfully avoids all the typical family clichés, and it’s also not a bad idea to remember Willy's adventures again sometime; if only for the pleasant feeling when in the end he makes that mighty leap towards freedom – who wouldn’t feel soft after that? An incredible film starring a killer whale. The first time I saw it (I couldn't have been more than seven) I was thrilled. Now I just remember those times. (14/06/2006)
