The Platform 2

A repeated joke is not a joke, one might say. Compared to the first part, it logically lacks the hallmark of originality and the resulting surprise. On the other hand, it was nice to see that this sequel develops the original themes, and the social-critical overlay is about something a little different than last time (it basically plays up the collapse of the socialist revolution). The brutality is fine, it's pretty intense at times, but I can’t forgive the drawn-out finale a second time. (05/10/2024)

If the first film was one without any meaningful conclusion, then you can amplify the second part as a viewer. The concept doesn’t sound bad on paper, but the execution... oh dear. The sequel aimed for some deeper reflections and moralizing, but unfortunately, it didn’t resonate with my taste. Elevating the film to the heavens just because of its unconventional idea and absolutely boundless brutality? I’m sorry, but I can’t do that. And what about that ending/non-ending? I personally consider it a mockery of any viewer with a decent IQ. What the hell was this!? :D You can skip this. You’ll save your precious time. I give it 3/10. (13/10/2024)

The Platform is back and with it new rules and regulations and it's another blast! Another impressive piece of craftsmanship that expands on its original theme a little better. We get new characters, interesting rules of loyalty (eat only your food so there’s enough for everyone), and we also get a prison sect with its own laws and punishments. The dialogue is solid again, there's some emotion, the atmosphere is uncompromising, dirty and properly dark, and as for the violence, it's brutal and twisted just to my taste. Blood spurts and heads fly through the hole and the thrill in my room reached an all time high. It's brutal in a really nice way, and weaker characters may drop out, but I enjoyed it immensely. The Spaniards are as insane as ever and the ending with its connection to the first part was a delight. Yeah, another brutal Spanish ride! After the mediocrity of the last few weeks I really enjoyed something. 8/10. (04/10/2024)
