Created in 1991 by Dr. Jane Goodall, Roots & Shoots empowers youth to become changemakers by creating a better world for people, animals and the environment. Roots & Shoots groups identify important challenges in their community and implement change through service projects.
Fernbank is proud to be the first museum in the world to initiate a Roots & Shoots project. Fernbank educators are leading a group of Dekalb County middle school students in planning and implementing a project to help revitalize Fernbank's Rain Garden. These volunteers will remove debris, add new stones and plant native species in an effort to become changemakers and help create a better world.
Join Roots & Shoots at Fernbank.
This project is made possible by the support of DeKalb County Commissioner Ted Terry
