Royal fans were delighted today when they caught a glimpse of Princess Anne donning her military uniform as she rode on horseback again for her brother, King Charles's second Trooping the Colour.

The Princess Royal wore her Royal Navy ceremonial uniform as she joined other members of the Royal Family during today's celebrations.

Anne, who is Royal Colonel of The Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons), has not served in the military but holds a number of honours and titles, including the rank of Admiral within the Royal Navy, which she was promoted to in 2012.

She is also a General in the British Army and an Air Chief Marshal in the Royal Air Force.

The royal's role during today's ceremony signifies even more her unwavering loyalty to the crown and the King, as many a time she's been dubbed the Firm's "secret weapon" by many royal watchers.

This year, Charles is not riding on horseback like he did the year before, the first for a monarch to do so in over 30 years but is set to inspect the soldiers from a carriage as he undergoes cancer treatment.

His and Anne's mother, the late Queen Elizabeth last rode out for the parade in 1986.

Trooping the Colour is held every year as an official birthday event for the monarch, even though Charles's actual birthday is on November 14.

This year, the King's Colour is trooped by Number 9 Company, Irish Guards in an annual celebration of the monarch's official birthday.
