Labour's cruel winter fuel payments plan reveals party's real agenda, warns Priti Patel
Labour's cruel plans to rob pensioners of their winter fuel allowance will open the floodgates for more big-state socialism, writes Dame Priti Patel.
It’s been six weeks since Sir Keir Starmer stood on the steps of Downing Street announcing his plans to change Britain.
In that time, the shocking plans Labour have for Britain are becoming clear for all to see.
Labour have already announced that they will concrete over our green and pleasant lands and have no coherent plan of controlling illegal immigration.
They are being held hostage by militant trade unions and will roll back the clock to the 1970s.
But Starmer’s cruel and nasty plan to subsidise his trade union paymasters by stripping millions of pensioners of their winter fuel allowance is the clearest demonstration of Labour’s real agenda.

It shows that the Labour Party will never change. They will punish hard-working people and instead give taxpayers’ cash to any union baron who asks for it.
Daily Express readers know pensioners deserve to retire in dignity and that it is completely immoral to force some to choose between heating and eating.
But Rachel Reeves clearly has other ideas and seems to be more than happy to turn a blind eye to some of Britain’s most vulnerable people to please her union mates.
Pensioners, quite rightly, feel deceived by Labour. At no point during the General Election did Labour say they were going to remove Winter Fuel Payments.
In fact, for years we’ve heard Labour boast about supporting pensioners. But now they’ve scrapped Winter Fuel Payments for millions we know that nothing is safe.
It’s not just the removal of the Winter Fuel Payment hitting pensioners hard. The cap on adult social care costs, due to come in next year, has been scrapped by Labour, leaving pensioners to pay more.
To pay for a larger state, Labour are also looking to increase fuel duties, force councils to hike up council tax, and raid pension pots and tax reliefs, measures that will hurt pensioners on low and fixed incomes.
The Chancellor has already given the game away. Their wicked plans to punish pensioners has nothing to do with economic competence and everything to do with the politics of greed and envy.
Labour will always put the needs and demands of its union paymasters before pensioners, which is why I am proud to be championing the Express’ crusade.
