'I'd rather poke my eyes out' Charlotte Church turns down X Factor role
SHE'S been in the music industry from a very young age, so it's no surprise that Charlotte Church was approached to sit on the X Factor judging panel.
However, the star admitted that she would "rather poke my eyes out with sticks" than take the job.
Taking to her Twitter page, the Crazy Chick singer said: "I got asked to do the X Factor job. I'd rather poke my eyes out with sticks than be a part of the machine that kills music."
However, when asked by Popjustice, she simply revealed that she "politely declined" the role, where she would have no doubt received a heft sum of money for.
When asked by the publication if she considered the offer from ITV, she replied: "I had a meeting to ask about the level of involvement in the creative process i could have, and they basically said none unless it was in line with what was required.
"I wanted to see just how hard line it was. I found my answer and politely declined."
Meanwhile, Geri Halliwell also revealed that she was happy to have missed out on the X Factor judging role, claiming that she would "have probably f***ed it up."
The tenth series of The X Factor - airing later this month - sees the return of original judge Sharon Osbourne alongside Gary Barlow, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh, who is quitting at the end of this run.
